Two days ago the New York Times was featuring the above “illustration” of Obama as a Christ-figure in their week in review section article: As Health Vote Awaits, Future of a Presidency Waits, Too. It’s all gone down the NYT memory hole now, but I borrowed this screen capture from Ed Morrissey’s Hot Air piece where Ed writes:

In other words, will the Obama presidency become a political martyr for the progressive agenda? It’s not terribly difficult to discern the subtext, if it can even really be called that, from the Times’ article. What’s rather amazing is that the Paper of Record puts this in its news section rather than Opinion.

Next time, use a photograph. Leave the Nola Lopez “illustrations” for the cartoon section, unless the Times wants to leave the impression that its entire paper is a cartoon … a strategy that, in this case, would be considered a success.

And from CentristNet:

This is nothing new for the NYT, their Obamaphile journalists like Peter Baker and other establishment media, as the cheerleading of the Obama candidacy and then Presidency has been continuous and systemic since the inception of Obama’s campaign for President in 2007. As the clock counts down on perhaps the most important vote in Congress in decades, the House vote on Obamacare, we can expect to see even more frantic Obama worship by the establishment media in the attempt to convince the American public to support the unpopular bill. Centrist, independent and non-ideological Americans are left to wonder what establishment media coverage of the Obama Administration would look like if the narrative-setting giant NYT reported in an objective, as opposed to supportive, manner regarding the Obama Presidency.

Indeed — if there had been any kind of objective press during the campaign we’d have a President Hillary or President McCain . . . instead, we have President Obamessiah — cross, halo, feet of clay and all.

The many nations helping Haiti recover from the devastating earthquake that struck there have set up their own military compounds and fly their flags at the entrances.

France’s tricolor, Britain’s Union Jack and even Croatia’s coat of arms flap in the breeze.

But the country whose contributions dwarf the rest of the world’s — the United States — has no flag at its main installation near the Port-au-Prince airport.

The lack of the Stars and Stripes does not sit well with some veterans and servicemembers who say the U.S. government should be proud to fly the flag in Haiti, given the amount of money and manpower the U.S. is donating to help the country recover from the Jan. 12 quake.

The Obama administration says flying the flag could give Haiti the wrong idea.

“We are not here as an occupation force, but as an international partner committed to supporting the government of Haiti on the road to recovery,” the U.S. government’s Haiti Joint Information Center said in response to a query about the flag.

The absence of the American flag bothers former Navy man Arthur Herriford, national president of the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association.

“It’s very improper,” Herriford said. “Our military people always engage and function under the American colors — always have and always will.”

Haiti’s been a hell-hole for like, forever — and the U.S. military has gone in there a couple of times to restore order after coups. The question begged is: “Who ordered that Old Glory not be flown over our military-directed relief-operations there?”

Who do we know that isn’t very keen on America that has that kind of pull?

Hmmmmm . . . someone that knows how to do nothin’, and do it reeeaaal good?

The House Dems are burnin’-down-the-house tryin’ to get Obamacare passed and made Law of the Land before the Congressional Easter break. Nancy Pelosi and Co. are terrified of the prospect of House members going home and facing the growing wrath of their constituents over this increasingly unpopular legislation. Good ol’ Nanny Nancy is pushing a plan to have the House pass the Senate bill — Without a single member of the House of Representatives Ever Casting A Vote!

After laying the groundwork for a decisive vote this week on the Senate’s health-care bill, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi suggested Monday that she might attempt to pass the measure without having members vote on it.

Instead, Pelosi (D-Calif.) would rely on a procedural sleight of hand: The House would vote on a more popular package of fixes to the Senate bill; under the House rule for that vote, passage would signify that lawmakers “deem” the health-care bill to be passed.

The tactic — known as a “self-executing rule” or a “deem and pass” — has been commonly used, although never to pass legislation as momentous as the $875 billion health-care bill. It is one of three options that Pelosi said she is considering for a late-week House vote, but she added that she prefers it because it would politically protect lawmakers who are reluctant to publicly support the measure.

“It’s more insider and process-oriented than most people want to know,” the speaker said in a roundtable discussion with bloggers Monday. “But I like it,” she said, “because people don’t have to vote on the Senate bill.”

This is the so-called Slaughter Solution dreamed up by NY Democrat Congresswoman Louise Slaughter of the “She had to wear her dead sister’s teeth” fame at that sham of a White House Health Care Summit. Gotta LUV them Dems — crafting a way to pass unpopular legislation with zero accountability involved! According to Michelle Malkin, the House Republicans are trying to force a vote on the Slaughter procedure hoping to stop it in its tracks and CA Republican David Dreier is Calling for Cameras in Rules Committee Hearing Room for Healthcare Debate. I won’t hold my breath on that last one — Okie don’t look so hot in blue.

The Anchoress is not very optimistic about this today . . . can’t say that I blame her either:

Barring something completely unforeseen -like California falling into the Pacific- this bill will be “passed”. A hundred rallies by thousands will not dissuade them, because none of this is about you, or what you want, or what you think. It is about the old thing, the same old thing: the illusion of power, and the pursuit of that illusion.

No matter how this vote works out, the Progressives in Congress won’t stop with the reconciled Senate bill. From Pelosi’s lips to our bleeding ears:

“My biggest fight has been between those who wanted to do something incremental and those who wanted to do something comprehensive,” Pelosi said, according to an account by Washington Post reform advocate Ezra Klein. “We won that fight, and once we kick through this door, there’ll be more legislation to follow.”

As of right now, today, the Democrat House Whip says they don’t yet have the votes, and this fight may go past Easter. From his lips to our bleeding ears!

Remember when we found out last fall that Obama’s Safe Schools Czar had been promoting fisting to 14-year-olds in public schools? Looks like they’ve found yet another use for all those latex gloves!

No one can accuse two-time Pulitzer Prize winning editorial cartoonist Michael Ramirez of holding back — or of Investors Business Daily of a lack of courage in publishing him. His latest take on the Democrats’ headlong rush to electoral oblivion in the midterms, and perhaps beyond, is dead-on accurate. Backbenchers are being asked to blow up their political careers in order to save President Obama’s term in office. But expect people to strongly object to the imagery and the declaration Ramirez uses:

Provocative? Absolutely. But this isn’t insinuating that Obama is a secret Muslim or that Democrats are terrorists. It accuses Democrats of putting Obama the man ahead of their own Constitutional obligations, and their own careers. Perhaps that could also have been depicted as falling on a grenade or committing seppuku, but for this age, the image instantly communicates exactly what the artist intends.

Chris Muir’s Day by Day Cartoon

After Speaker-of-the-House Nancy Pelosi’s comment the other day, “But we have to pass the [health care] bill so that you can find out what is in it”, the Democrats are now planning for the Big Jam Down to happen this coming week, and to keep us in the dark once again, Pelosi’s promise to release the reconciliation bill 72 hours before the vote so that the American People would have a chance to read and understand what the final legislation would contain is not-so-slowly becoming just another Dem-wit lie. To perform this slight of hand, Pelosi’ House plans to use what is now being referred to as the Slaughter Solution — Doug Ross explains:

The Washington Examiner reports that House Democrats appear poised to adopt a rule that would pass the Senate health care bill without actually voting on it.

Rep. Louise Slaughter (D-NY) is preparing to pass the health care overhaul through the House of Representatives without a vote, as was originally reported by the National Journal’s Congress Daily. Mark Tapscott observes that such a maneuver would be the penultimate refutation of the people’s will.

In the Slaughter Solution, the rule would declare that the House “deems” the Senate version of Obamacare to have been passed by the House. House members would still have to vote on whether to accept the rule, but they would then be able to say they only voted for a rule, not for the bill itself.

Thus, Slaughter is preparing a rule that would consider the Senate bill “passed” once the House approves a corrections bill that would make changes. Democrats would thereby avoid a direct vote on the health care bill while allowing it to become law!

Constitutional attorney Mark R. Levin asks, “They’re going to present a rule, issued by her committee as chairman, that says that the House already adopted the Senate bill when we know it didn’t?”

Go to the Ross piece to read more because he explains that this legislation-by-fiat plan from Louise “She had to wear her dead sister’s teeth!” Slaughter attacks the Constitutional core of how legislation was designed to be crafted and implemented into law. In a later update Ross includes this piece of conversation between Conservative Mark Levin and Constitutional expert Arthur Fergenson:

Levin: I wanted to bring additional firepower on this subject, my buddy Arthur Fergenson, who is a Constitutional expert and who has argued cases in front of the Supreme Court, including Buckley vs. Valeo…

What do you make of this unbelievable — that they’re even talking about, this chairman of the Rules Committee — acting as if members of the House voted on something when they didn’t actually vote on it?Fergenson: It’s preposterous. It’s ludicrous. But it’s also dangerous. It’s dangerous because, first, …because [the U.S. Constitution's] Article I Section VII says every bill — and it capitalized “bill” — …it is common sense that the bill is the same item, it can’t be multiple bills, it can’t be mashups of bills. And, in fact, in 1986, Gene Gressman, no conservative, and one of the experts — the expert — on Supreme Court practice… was writing an article that was dealing with a less problematic attempt to get around this section of the Constitution… [Ed: the line-item veto] and he wrote, “By long usage and plain meaning, ‘Bill’ means any singular and entire piece of legislation in the form it was approved by the two houses.”

…the bills have to be revoted until they are identical. Both chambers have to vote on the bill.

If this cockamamie proposal were to be followed by the House and there were to be a bill presented to the President for his signature, that was a bill that had not been voted on — identically by the two Houses of Congress — that bill would be a nullity. It is not law. That is chaos.

I cannot recall any circumstance in which that has happened.

…What we have here is a measure, that if Obama signed it, would immediately affect taxation, it would change rules of practice in the insurance industry, it would regulate 17% of the nation’s economy, and it would be done without any legal basis whatsoever!

Fergenson: It’s like, the closest I can think of is martial law! The President would have no authority — there would be no law! It’s not like it would be constitutional or not. There would be. No. Law.

Levin: What do you make of people who sit around and even think of things like this? To me, they are absolutely unfit to even be in high office!

Fergenson: You’re right, Mark. And I would go back to what caused Gressman to write this… he was asked for his comments by the Senate… because the Senate was trying to do the equivalent of a line-item veto. And, in 1986, you were in the Justice Department under Attorney General Meese… there was a proposal… to take a bill and divide it into little pieces and.. then the President would sign each one or veto each one. That was unconstitutional. A Senate Rules Committee reported it unfavorably.

Levin: You know what’s interesting about this… Attorney General Ed Meese considered it unconstitutional even though President Reagan had wanted a line-item veto. And President Reagan agreed that it was unconstitutional without an amendment to the Constitution…

…Speaking for myself, I would tell the people who listen to this program that you are under absolutely no obligation to comply with it [this health care bill] because it is not, in fact, law. Do you agree with me?

Fergenson: I agree with you. I believe it would be tested by the Supreme Court. I believe that, under these circumstances, chaos would reign. There is no obligation to obey an unconstitutional law. The courts are empowered to determine whether it’s unconstitutional… it’s not a law.

Under this scenario, the various arms of the federal government will be acting under a law that does not exist.

If that don’t get your blood up to a full-boil, you’re just not payin’ attention — or you’ve drunk the kool-aid and think that Obamacare is totally KOOL! If you’re ears are now smokin’ like a steam kettle on the high burner then hit Michelle Malkin’s piece for all the contact info for the Blue Dogs and on-the-fence Dems that Nancy Pelosi is tryin’ to turn from Nos to Yeses! Pretty cool PhotoShop of Pelosi and Slaughter butcherin’ the Constitution as well.

Lots more Stop Obamacare info and contacts at Hugh Hewit’s site.

It’s not lookin’ good, but it’s not yet too late — call, email, fax those potential wafflers — let them know that this will be the last term in office if they jam this crap sandwich of a health care bill down out throats!

Especially if you are on Medicare, or soon will be — this just might be the difference of whether you ever have decent health care again, or whether the government ignores you and like Scrooge, tells us all to go die already.

STOP. OBAMACARE. NOW.

When you begin giving up personal liberties and letting the nanny state dictate all of life’s moments, really stupid stuff happens. Like declaring the gas that all animals breathe out and that all green plants need to survive a pollutant. Like banning the use of salt in the preparation of food in any restaurant in the state of New York.

Say what?

“No owner or operator of a restaurant in this state shall use salt in any form in the preparation of any food for consumption by customers of such restaurant, including food prepared to be consumed on the premises of such restaurant or off of such premises,” the bill, A. 10129 , states in part.

When you get your official 2010 Census form you will notice that a significant section is devoted to determining your racial identity. On that question number 9, you can do something legal and that will also send a message to the race-obsessed in our government; Check that last box and fill in “American”. And, not one of those hyphenated Americans either. Michelle Malkin notes that Theodore Roosevelt didn’t think much of that type of moniker and quotes this passage from True Americanism:

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all… The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic… There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

Remember — for your race, write in AMERICAN!

ELECTIONS! HAVE! CONSEQUENCES!

Obama administration will accept no more public input for federal fishery strategy:

The Obama administration will accept no more public input for a federal strategy that could prohibit U.S. citizens from fishing the nation’s oceans, coastal areas, Great Lakes, and even inland waters.

This announcement comes at the time when the situation supposedly still is “fluid” and the Interagency Ocean Policy Task Force still hasn’t issued its final report on zoning uses of these waters. That’s a disappointment, but not really a surprise for fishing industry insiders who have negotiated for months with officials at the Council on Environmental Quality and bureaucrats on the task force. These angling advocates have come to suspect that public input into the process was a charade from the beginning.

Wouldn’t be the first time this administration has LIED to us, damn sure won’t be the last!

Led by NOAA’s Jane Lubchenco, the task force has shown no overt dislike of recreational angling, but its indifference to the economic, social and biological value of the sport has been deafening.

Additionally, Lubchenco and others in the administration have close ties to environmental groups who would like nothing better than to ban recreational angling. And evidence suggests that these organizations have been the engine behind the task force since before Obama issued a memo creating it last June.

Apple pie, Chevrolet and fishin’ — real Americana — what’s not to like?

That same tunnel vision, in which recreational angling and commercial fishing are indiscriminately lumped together as harmful to the resource, has persisted with the task force, despite protests by the angling industry.

As more evidence of collusion, the green groups began clamoring for an Executive Order to implement the task force’s recommendations even before the public comment period ended in February. Fishing advocates had no idea that this was coming.

These elites in Washington don’t want you to be able to fish the rivers, lakes and streams of America. Out here, California is letting the entire central valley agricultural zone wither and die from lack of water — just to “save” the Delta Smelt. After all, to these enviro-ideologues Mother Earth is a hell of a lot more important than humans. We are the stain, the virus, the planet’s scourge that will be the end of all . . .

Morlock fears that “what we’re seeing coming at us is an attempted dismantling of the science-based fish and wildlife model that has served us so well. There’s no basis in science for the agendas of these groups who are trying to push the public out of being able to fish and recreate.

“Conflicts (user) are overstated and problems are manufactured. It’s all just an excuse to put us off the water.”

After all, it’s just fishin’ — won’t hurt nobody to hang up the ol’ rod and reel and instead sit in front of the tube and chant praises to the Obamessiah. Nah — nuthin’ wrong with that . . .

You will submit — You will obey — You will like it!

After all, as they say, “We won — get over it!”

However, the tone-deaf folks on the Demmish side of the isle aren’t listening, don’t give a whit, or both! Paul Ryan (R-WI) schools the Prez on why double-counting and offset time frames don’t exactly give one a clear picture of reality.

You can almost see that Obama is playing that scene in The Untouchables where Robert De Niro as Al Capone beats one of his competitors to death with a baseball bat at the meeting’s round table in his mind as he sets his jaw and listens to Ryan score points.

Ha!

Still, bottom line was that Obama threw down the gauntlet and has given the Repubs 4 to 6 weeks to come around and embrace Obamacare or they’ll shove it up our ass via reconciliation! The way to stop this is to convince those Dems that are most vulnerable this Nov. that to vote for the Senate bill — the necessary first step toward that reconciliation process — is political suicide.
A word from Michael Yon:

The War in Afghanistan has truly begun. This will be a long, difficult fight that is set to eclipse anything we’ve seen in Iraq. As 2010 unfolds, my 6th year of war coverage will unfold with it. There is relatively little interest in Afghanistan by comparison to previous interest in Iraq, and so reader interest is low. Afghanistan is serious, very deadly business. Like Iraq, however, it gets pushed around as a political brawling pit while the people fighting the war are mostly forgotten.

Don’t be one of those that forgets . . .

Yesterday I was totally blown away while watching Glenn Beck’s CPAC keynote speech. Intending to have Fox News on the tube for background noise as I cleaned the fridge and put away the marketing purchases, I simply had to stop, sit and watch this nearly 1 hour tour de force. Leaving very few, if any, stones unturned while castigating both Democrats and Republicans alike for their profligate-spending and ignorance, or pure indifference to our Constitution, Beck delivered the goods.

I like Beck, am thoroughly entertained by his antics on his show and am loving his book. However, I had no idea that he could deliver such a powerful alter-call for coming back to true Conservatism. Anthony Del Pellegrino over at the Politics section of Gather.com puts it this way:

Beck’s almost hour long keynote address was both eloquent and hard-hitting. It was packed with intelligent humor, powerful prose as well as inspirational poetry. From beginning to end, the speech was brutally honest and profoundly accurate.
{…}
Beck touched just about every fundamental aspect of life in America that we have twisted and turned into a politically correct, dysfunctional society that attempts to put a cap on success and deem competition a sin. He drew a clear picture of a nation that is being steered by a government of nearsighted drivers who are more concerned with the sights and sounds along the side of the road than they are with what is right in front of them.

Spend an hour with Glenn Beck — it just might be the most important hour you experience this year.

The Left’s newest meme is that our government is broken, that the way the legislative branch is setup, especially on the Senate side, makes it impossible to get anything done. Barack Obama’s agenda has crashed and burned with more debacles happening every day. So, obviously if the Obamessiah can’t shove his pet projects down our throats and up our collective asses — something drastic must be done. Something like, oh, well, how ’bout just eliminating the filibuster in the Senate ’cause everybody with a brain knows that this is just allowing the “tyranny of the minority” to keep the Democrat majority from creating Heaven right here on good ol’ terra firma.

Bullshit!

As Charles Krauthammer patiently explains in his Washington Post column today, Obama is whining like Carter instead of kickin’ butt like Reagen and Clinton.

It turned out that the country’s problems were not problems of structure but of leadership. Reagan and Clinton had it. Carter didn’t. Under a president with extensive executive experience, good political skills and an ideological compass in tune with the public, the country was indeed governable.
ad_icon

It’s 2010, and the first-year agenda of a popular and promising young president has gone down in flames. Barack Obama’s two signature initiatives — cap-and-trade and health-care reform — lie in ruins.

Desperate to explain away this scandalous state of affairs, liberal apologists haul out the old reliable from the Carter years: “America the Ungovernable.” So declared Newsweek. “Is America Ungovernable?” coyly asked the New Republic. Guess the answer.

The rage at the machine has produced the usual litany of systemic explanations. Special interests are too powerful. The Senate filibuster stymies social progress. A burdensome constitutional order prevents innovation. If only we could be more like China, pines Tom Friedman, waxing poetic about the efficiency of the Chinese authoritarian model, while America flails about under its “two parties . . . with their duel-to-the-death paralysis.” The better thinkers, bewildered and furious that their president has not gotten his way, have developed a sudden disdain for our inherently incremental constitutional system.

Yet, what’s new about any of these supposedly ruinous structural impediments? Special interests blocking policy changes? They have been around since the beginning of the republic — and since the beginning of the republic, strong presidents, like the two Roosevelts, have rallied the citizenry and overcome them.

Hard-core ideologues of either stripe can’t rally the citizenry — they turn off the majority who see them for what they are and won’t put up with being bullied. As many are commenting, instead of this being a flaw, a glitch, it’s how the system is supposed to work. What’s truly pathetic is that with a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate, a huge majority in the House, radical Leftists controlling both of those bodies plus a Weatherman’s wet-dream of a radically-progressive President in the Oval Office they couldn’t get anything done!

Nada! Nuttin’! Big. Fat. Effin’. ZERO!

Except of course the passage of the humongous Porkulus Stimulus Package his first month in office, but hey, the country was so freaked out by the economic collapse last Fall that even many Republicans supported that nightmare of a budget buster which my kid’s grand kids will still be payin’ off when they’re my age!

What scares me just a bit is that the Carter administration was trying to figure out how to fundamentally change the government — again as Krauthammer notes, “The president’s own White House counsel suggested abolishing the separation of powers and going to a more parliamentary system of unitary executive control.” The Obama administration is going the way of Carter — who knows what political nightmares this hard-Left crew is dreaming?

It’s becoming ever more critical for the GOP to take back control of Congress this November and plan for an unbeatable bid for the 2012 Presidential race. After that, we need to hold our own guys’ feet to the fire and not let them go the way of the Grand Ol’ Party during the Bush 43 era. If they don’t do the will of the people — kick their asses out!

Do that enough times in a row and even a politician will finally get the memo!

My category for these posts is “Global Warming B.S.”, but baloney is just as appropriate a term. There has been so much of it piling up for the last few decades that we could eat Global Warming sandwiches for eons and still not make a dent in it. However, if that be your culinary jones, better get as much as you can ’cause the Anthropogenic Global Warming movement is unraveling faster than an ol’ sweater left with a pack o’ cats — or somethin’ like that!

Yesterday, in Britain’s Mail Online we find out that Climate Scientist and Climategate-email-participant Professor Phil Jones is a really lousy records keeper, possibly if not probably has lost the original data records that were used for the infamous Hockey Stick graph, not to mention — but I’ll do that anyway — he concedes that there probably hasn’t been any statistically significant warming in the last decade and a half. What’s up with that?

Asked about whether he lost track of data, Professor Jones said: ‘There is some truth in that. We do have a trail of where the weather stations have come from but it’s probably not as good as it should be.

‘There’s a continual updating of the dataset. Keeping track of everything is difficult. Some countries will do lots of checking on their data then issue improved data, so it can be very difficult. We have improved but we have to improve more.’

He also agreed that there had been two periods which experienced similar warming, from 1910 to 1940 and from 1975 to 1998, but said these could be explained by natural phenomena whereas more recent warming could not.

He further admitted that in the last 15 years there had been no ‘statistically significant’ warming, although he argued this was a blip rather than the long-term trend.

And he said that the debate over whether the world could have been even warmer than now during the medieval period, when there is evidence of high temperatures in northern countries, was far from settled.

Don’t ya just LUV it when those that have been screaming for over a decade that the science of man-caused Global Warming is settled, that there is a scientific consensus devoid of rational dissent on the issue, that Global Warming deniers are as loony as Holocaust deniers finally have to pull their heads out of their asses, breath some real non-global-warmed air and admit that, well . . . maybe the science isn’t really settled after all. Hate to break it to them poor, misunderstood Global Warming Hysterics, but when you find yourself caught in a shit storm, the stuff just keeps flyin’ at ya! Like this for instance:

“The temperature records cannot be relied on as indicators of global change,” said John Christy, professor of atmospheric science at the University of Alabama in Huntsville, a former lead author on the IPCC.
Related Links

The doubts of Christy and a number of other researchers focus on the thousands of weather stations around the world, which have been used to collect temperature data over the past 150 years.

These stations, they believe, have been seriously compromised by factors such as urbanisation, changes in land use and, in many cases, being moved from site to site.

Christy has published research papers looking at these effects in three different regions: east Africa, and the American states of California and Alabama.

“The story is the same for each one,” he said. “The popular data sets show a lot of warming but the apparent temperature rise was actually caused by local factors affecting the weather stations, such as land development.”

Uh, yeah! Let’s keep the weather stations where we collect temperature data to support our <strike>religion</strike> theory of man-caused Global Warming next to heat sources and on heat-generating land fills. That’ll teach them pesky deniers to doubt that Gaia’s having a big-time mankind-caused hot flash! Over at Hot Air Ed Morrissey comments:

These revelations come on top of a series of embarrassing disclosures about the IPCC report. Another research team at Loughborough University may expose even more. Terry Wills will publish a paper in Climatic Change that will argue that the IPCC misread its data, and that the temperature fluctuations it saw are just as likely to be random weather than any systemic trend, whether caused by greenhouse gases or not.

The struts have begun to collapse under AGW hysteria.

Michelle Malkin has a great roundup of information and sources and ends her post with this, “Eco-hysteria doesn’t deliver world peace. It threatens it.” The Anchoress has needs, and a request that I totally agree with:

I want me freaking incandescent bulbs back, and I want them now. And I want the space program refunded with all this global warming hoo-hah money.

Stop the man-caused Global Warming nonsense NOW! Can we do that”

Yes, we can!

Did I really just write that?

Sheesh!

Over at Business Week we get the skinny:

President Barack Obama said he is “agnostic” about raising taxes on households making less than $250,000 as part of a broad effort to rein in the budget deficit.

Obama, in a Feb. 9 Oval Office interview, said that a presidential commission on the budget needs to consider all options for reducing the deficit, including tax increases and cuts in spending on entitlement programs such as Social Security and Medicare.

“The whole point of it is to make sure that all ideas are on the table,” the president said in the interview with Bloomberg BusinessWeek, which will appear on newsstands Friday. “So what I want to do is to be completely agnostic, in terms of solutions.”

Obama repeatedly vowed during the 2008 presidential election campaign that he would not raise taxes on individuals making less than $200,000 and households earning less than $250,000 a year. When senior White House economic adviser Lawrence H. Summers and Treasury Secretary Timothy F. Geithner suggested in August that the administration might be open to going back on that pledge, White House press secretary Robert Gibbs quickly reiterated the president’s promise.

Of course, it’s all Bush’s fault — Anyone besides me getting tire of hearing this tired ol’ shit from our President all day, every day? I warned everyone to stock up on the KY, ’cause the American taxpayer is gonna get a hard-core life lesson in what it’s like to drop the soap in a prison shower.

Just sayin’ . . .

Fifty eight years ago today a proud and grateful Tulsa couple accepted into their hearts and home a 5-pound baby boy, a castaway only an hour or so old, who in today’s climate of ‘planned parenthood’ thinking wouldn’t have been born at all. For some reason, God hadn’t allowed them to have their own flesh-&-blood progeny, so they got stuck with me, and later on, my sis. We got the best end of the deal, as I can’t imagine a better pair of human beings to have been raised by.

So, it’s clear and chilly out here in the People’s Republic of Santa Monica, Iran’s rulers are rattling their Feb. 11th sabers, the east coast is buried in snow, it’s snowing in Dallas, and the NYT is claiming that all this cold weather and snow is because of Global Warming. Yakoff Smirnoff is right, it is a great country!

So, happy birthday to one aging Aquarium Water Dragon . . . uh, that’d be me!

When you find something as cool and entertaining, while at the same time educating as the above video, it warms the little heart’s cockles.

When you hear about insanity like a North Carolina academic officer proposing that American History be taught only from 1877 onward you want to bang your head against a wall, repeatedly — or maybe, bang her head against a wall, repeatedly would be more like it — metaphorically, of course.

“We are certainly not trying to go away from American history,” Rebecca Garland, the chief academic officer for North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, told Fox News. “What we are trying to do is figure out a way to teach it where students are connected to it, where they see the big idea, where they are able to make connections and draw relationships between parts of our history and the present day.”

As the North Carolina curriculum stands now, ninth-grade students take world history, 10th-graders study civics and economics and 11th-graders take U.S. history going back to the country’s founding.

Under the proposed change, the ninth-graders would take a course called global studies, focusing in part on issues such as the environment. The 10th grade still would study civics and economics, but 11th-graders would take U.S. history only from 1877 onward.

Glen Beck is right — the Left is truly trying to disengage our youth from the Founding Fathers and the principles and beliefs they brought to this great country — and it all begins in the public schools. So, you say, “What can I do?”
