Here’s a little CGI gut check for all those poor souls that insist on worshiping at the alter of Climate Change Hysteria.

That’s what I’d call Global Warming. Where’s the Sierra Club when you really need em?

Last Saturday, the day before Easter, Johnny Hart, creator of the B.C. comic strip and co-creator of the Wizard of Id passed away at his drawing board. What can you say? How else would such a creative person want to go out but working?

I haven’t thought about the strip B.C. for decades, haven’t read the newspaper comics in a long, long time. But, that strip was important to me in my youth. I think that I started really reading by pouring over the comics in the Tulsa World, Nancy & Sluggo, Blondie, Rex Morgan, M.D, Peanuts and of course, B.C. Until I started following links to various posts on Hart, I had forgotten the range of characters in his cave-man universe. Most are present in this tribute by Gary Varvel.

His humor and drawing style influenced my generation of cartoonists but it was how he wove his faith into his work that inspired me most. The Bible says that God knows the plans he has for us. An excellent tribute is this one by Rick Newcombe, President and Founder of Creators Syndicate, Inc. Spend some time there — you’ll be glad that you did. Rest in peace, Johnny Hart — one of the very best that ever was.

Laer Pierce reacts to Charles Krauthammer’s WaPo piece on polygamy rights.

And when we said the gay marriage debate was a slippery slope that would lead to demands of acceptance of who knows what, they laughed and called us paranoid, homophobic conservative Christians. Are you paranoid if you’re right?

Laer then conjures up a wild list of “alternate love” scenarios that we will have to “tolerate” if this argument is taken to its logical conclusion — If it’s love, it must be good!

But hey, we grew up with that, didn’t we?

In just a few hours we’ll find out if Brokeback Mountain, the gay cowboy movie, is selected by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences as the Oscar winning Movie of the Year. I’m still hoping for Crash, but there are so many gays and lesbians in the movie biz, and this film is a biggie for their cause, that I’d have to put my money on the buggerin’ buckaroos.

Are gay cowboys the best that our society can serve up for our own boys to pattern after? Isn’t modern life getting way too feminized for our own collective good? If God wanted men to be metrosexual, wouldn’t he have given us a dual set of plumbing?

What got me thinking about this today was Doug Giles’ latest Townhall.com column, Raising Boys That Feminists Will Hate. Here’s an excerpt:

Get it right, mom and dad—you are rowing against the flotsam and jetsam of Sally River. I hope you have a sturdy ideological paddle and some serious forearms, because postmodernism is determined to keep your boy and his testosterone at bay. Yes, they will attempt at every turn to either drill it or drug it out of him.

Parent, if you’re groping for a creedal oar to help you stem the increasingly stem-less effete environment, I’ve got a novel idea: Howzabout going back to the Bible, in particular the book of Genesis, and see what God the Father created His initial kid to be.

Yeah, that’s right. Go back to the source. It hasn’t been all that long since men had to be men, and women, women, right here in the good ol’ US of A. But today, we can be all squishy, and wishy-washy about gender issues — it causes a lot of mental confusion, and pads the pockets of therapists everywhere! Dr. Doug has a prescription for parents of boys:

So, take the time—No . . . make the time, parents of the peculiar Y chromosomes—to venture out with your boy . . . away from the city, away from the tidy and predictable . . . and watch what happens to your son as he separates from the prissy and is forced to interface with the primal. It is magical.

And, if you follow his advice, what can you expect?

Hang with me parents and you’ll see how God hardwired your son to be a wild man, a ruler, a steward, a dragon slayer, a wise man and a son who reflects the grandeur of God and how it is your job to fuel this flame which, by design, burns in your boy’s heart.

Sound pretty good to me. Oh, by the way — Doug has no boys of his own, but he does have two girls — you see, Eve was born into the wild also. Just because one is female, that doesn’ mean you get to be a softie. Strong women are amazing — I should know, I’m married to one!

Unlike the hard core feminists in our midsts, a real-strong woman won’t try to emasculate her, or anyone else’s man. (db)

Of all the beloved Christmas specials that either used to be, or still are, shown on television, A Charlie Brown Christmas has to be one of, if not the best. 40 years old this season, and having in it something that you won’t see outside of Christian broadcasting — a reading out of the New Testament, ie Luke’s story of Christ’s birth.

Mendelson and animator Bill Melendez fretted about the insistence by Peanuts creator Charles Schulz that his first-ever TV spinoff end with a reading of the Christmas story from the Gospel of Luke by a lisping little boy named Linus.

“We told Schulz, ‘Look, you can’t read from the Bible on network television,’ ” Mendelson says. “When we finished the show and watched it, Melendez and I looked at each other and I said, ‘We’ve ruined Charlie Brown.’ ”

Good grief, were they wrong. The first broadcast was watched by almost 50% of the nation’s viewers. “When I started reading the reviews, I was absolutely shocked,” says Melendez, 89. “They actually liked it!”

Dennis Prager often comments on his show and in his writings about Evangelical and Fundamentalist Christians, calling them some of the best friends that Jews and Israel have in this world. Guess the ADL isn’t paying attention.

ADL Breaks With Pack On Church-State
Foxman signals shift in tactics with attack on Evangelical power in U.S.

Warning that the Evangelical right has made alarming gains in social and political influence, a leading Jewish church-state watchdog is calling for a tougher and more unified Jewish response.

Abraham Foxman, national director of the Anti-Defamation League, speaking to the group’s national leadership here last week, signaled a sharp shift in ADL policy by directly attacking several prominent religious right groups and challenging their motives, which he said include nothing less than “Christianizing America.”

Among the groups he cited were the powerful Focus on the Family ministry and the Family Research Council.

Foxman said as these groups seek to use the government to further their missionizing goal, Democrats and Republicans alike are “pandering” to the religious conservatives.

The ADL leader also called for a national Jewish summit to respond to the growing challenge.

Foxman may face stiff resistance, however, from colleagues in other organizations who believe a more confrontational strategy would be a big mistake for American Jews and for Israel.

In an interview this week, Foxman said the shift in ADL’s approach on the Evangelicals was necessitated by their growing political and social clout.

“What we’re seeing is a pervasive, intensive assault on the traditional balance between religion and state in this country,” he said. “They’re trying to bring Christianity to all aspects of American life. They’re not just talking just about God and religious values but about Jesus and about Christian values.”

As far as I can see, no one is trying to establish a theocracy here in the U.S., except maybe for radical Islam. Wonder how accepted our Mr. Foxman would be if that happens? (db)
