WE all know that Michigan’s all screwed up, and Detroit is a disaster. The autoworkers union and the legacy cost of its retirement plan has limited the ability of the US companies to compete with the imports for decades and was a large part of why GM and Chrysler had to be forced into bankruptcy. Ford hocked everything it owns and sold off all its prestige brands to avoid the same fate and there the jury is still out.

However, it’s the public employee unions that have the most balls there: They ‘steal’ Medicaid money from recipients, calling them “public employees” and therefore subject to automatic deduction of “dues” from the funds that are supposed to be paying for their healthcare! Funds that WE, the taxpayers are supplying. Disgusting!!!!!

If you’re a parent who accepts Medicaid payments from the State of Michigan to help support your mentally-disabled adult children, you qualify as a state employee for the purposes of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU). They can now claim and receive a portion of your Medicaid in the form of union dues.

Robert and Patricia Haynes live in Michigan with their two adult children, who have cerebral palsy. The state government provides the family with insurance through Medicaid, but also treats them as caregivers. For the SEIU, this makes them public employees and thus members of the union, which receives $30 out of the family’s monthly Medicaid subsidy. The Michigan Quality Community Care Council (MQC3) deducts union dues on behalf of SEIU.

Michigan Department of Community Health Director Olga Dazzo explained the process in to her members of her staff. “MQC3 basically runs the program for SEIU and passes the union dues from the state to the union,” she wrote in an email obtained by the Mackinac Center. Initiated in 2006 under then-Gov. Jennifer Granholm, D-Mich., the plan reportedly provides the SEIU with $6 million annually in union dues deducted from those Medicaid subsidies.

Eventually the Europeans got a handshake but Erdogan got the hug treatment.

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan sure doesn’t deserve a “hug” from a U.S. President, considering his ties to Hamas and his feelings toward Israel.

Moore was able to secure a deal from Miramax which guaranteed him 27% of his film’s net revenues, or roughly $21.6 million. Michael also was entitled to 50% of the profits of Sicko which are estimated to be $17 million.

Moore wants to dress and act as if he’s just a regular guy part of the 99 percenters, but he is every bit a multimillionaire doing everything in his power to make more money for himself.

He invests his fortune in stocks – including the Left’s most-hated company Halliburton! – and isn’t pro-union when it comes to managing his own business.

That folks in this movement hold this man up as an icon for what they stand for is an indictment of how clueless and hypocritical they are as well.

At least the Tea Party groups aren’t calling themselves “charities”.

One way or another — these “folks” are determined to get your hard-earned money!

WaPo is reporting today that “Obama plans to turn anti-Wall Street anger on Mitt Romney, Republicans” — ooooooo, big surprise . . .

President Obama and his team have decided to turn public anger at Wall Street into a central tenet of their reelection strategy.

The move comes as the Occupy Wall Street protests gain momentum across the country and as polls show deep public distrust of the nation’s major financial institutions.

And it sets up what strategists see as a potent line of attack against Republican front-runner Mitt Romney, a former investment executive whom Obama aides plan to portray as a wealthy Wall Street sympathizer.

Many Democrats consider Romney, the former Massachusetts governor, the greatest threat to Obama when it comes to wooing centrist independents next year, and Romney this week has begun to present himself as a champion of middle-income Americans.

Obama aides point to recent surveys that show anger at Wall Street spanning ideologies, including a new Washington Post-ABC News poll in which 68 percent of independents and 60 percent of Republicans say they have unfavorable impressions of the big financial institutions.

But the strategy of channeling anti-Wall Street anger carries risks. Many of Obama’s senior advisers have ties to the financial industry — a point that makes Occupy protesters wary of the president and his party.

Of course, Obama his own self lives like a Monarch now, and will continue to do so for a long time to come. Hobnobbing with the Google boys and the Facebook guy as well as all those Wall Street fat cats like J.R. Emmelt, GE CEO & Chairman and also Obama’s chairman of his outside panel of economic advisers. You know, GE, the company that made billions and paid NO federal income taxes — that GE! Yeah, this next one says it all — Obama is the epitome of the so-called ‘One Percent’.

In today’s LA Times there are two glowing paeans to the “Occupy Whatever” movement — Steve Lopez: A festival, a rebellion, an awakening and  Michael Hiltzik: Occupy Wall Street shifts from protest to policy phase.

Seems like the MSM just can’t get enough of the smelly, on-car-defecating, in-your-face dissidents that have difficulty expressing what they are protesting about. If they truly are the 99%, I’m damn glad to be a part of the other one percent — a very poor part that is. At least they haven’t killed anyone – yet.

Out here in La La Land, the “Occupy L.A.” movement is promising, There Will Be Blood!

There seems to be a lot of push back from Liberals, both white and black, whenever GOP Presidential Primary candidate Herman Cain is on the scene. The thought of a conservative black man riles them up something fierce, and one as financially successful as Cain drives them into a lathered tizzy! Over at American Thinker, Lloyd Marcus, a proud unhyphenated black American, posts an open letter to his family who aren’t down with Lloyd being a member of the Tea Party Movement.

This article is for my black brother, a community leader and little-league football coach who gets his news solely from the liberal mainstream media. Hopefully it will help him to understand why I, his big brother, am working with those white Tea Party people against his beloved black president.

This article is also for my black relatives who gave me a chilly reception at my grandmother’s 100th birthday party. I learned through the family grapevine they resent my involvement in the Tea Party and consider me an embarrassment to the family.

Well, I say to my embarrassed relatives, blame my instincts on the mentoring and leadership of my dad. My dad has been a Christian man of character and honor all of my life. So when I see a characterless liberal political hack occupying my beloved country’s Oval Office, I refuse to join the flock of black sheep worshiping him because we share the same skin color.

What brought on this reaction was his watching “white MSNBC host Lawrence O’Donnell chastising black presidential candidate Herman Cain for not participating in the 1960s civil rights movement[.]” Essentially, the MSNBC host calling Cain an Uncle Tom. Gee, to the Left all blacks not sucking at the “Federal Government Entitlement Teat” are Uncle Toms. Can’t have any uppity, successful black men and women telling black youth that they can make it if they try, that they don’t have to be dependent upon government largess, the meger scraps that the Democrats deem sufficient to keep them in line just as long as they vote the big “D”. Here’s Marcus again:

Listen up, O’Donnell, Garofalo, and all you other pompous liberal plantation slave massas. By the Grace of God, we black Americans are free — free to be successful entrepreneurs such as Herman Cain and countless other blacks rather than government-dependent welfare recipients.

He goes on to blast Al Sharpton for his demeaning of Herman Cain. Cain is probably proud of that one, seeing as how Sharpton, with his Twana Brawley scandal, is a total joke. Black on black racism is an ugly, ugly thing to behold. Marcus wraps up with this:

The left views and values blacks only as pawns in a quest to portray America as the greatest source of evil in the world. The left deems happy, America-loving blacks who have achieved success via traditional routes such as education and hard work “paradigm breakers” who must be destroyed.

So please forgive my lack of respect for my white liberal would-be slave massas and their traitorous black overseers. These people are evil and must be defeated.

The CERN research institute near Geneva said measurements over three years had shown neutrinos pumped to a receiver in Gran Sasso, Italy, had arrived 60 nanoseconds sooner than light would have done — a tiny difference that could nonetheless undermine Albert Einstein’s 1905 special theory of relativity.

“It is premature to comment on this,” Professor Stephen Hawking, the world’s most well-known physicist, told Reuters. “Further experiments and clarifications are needed.”

This has been “settled science” by consensus for nearly half a century, and has been out there for right at 100 years. And now, it looks like it’s incorrect and will have to be re-thought.

Will that make the Global Warming hysterics “rethink” their couple-of-decades consensus based on faulty/fudged data, incomplete-super-complex modeling and blow-hard money-making proponents like Al Gore?

Asking Candidates Tougher Questions About Faith

This year’s Republican primary season offers us an important opportunity to confront our scruples about the privacy of faith in public life — and to get over them. We have an unusually large number of candidates, including putative front-runners, who belong to churches that are mysterious or suspect to many Americans. Mitt Romney and Jon Huntsman are Mormons, a faith that many conservative Christians have been taught is a “cult” and that many others think is just weird. (Huntsman says he is not “overly religious.”) Rick Perry, Michele Bachmann and Rick Santorum are all affiliated with fervid subsets of evangelical Christianity, which has raised concerns about their respect for the separation of church and state, not to mention the separation of fact and fiction.

I honestly don’t care if Mitt Romney wears Mormon undergarments beneath his Gap skinny jeans, or if he believes that the stories of ancient American prophets were engraved on gold tablets and buried in upstate New York, or that Mormonism’s founding prophet practiced polygamy (which was disavowed by the church in 1890). Every faith has its baggage, and every faith holds beliefs that will seem bizarre to outsiders. I grew up believing that a priest could turn a bread wafer into the actual flesh of Christ.

But I do want to know if a candidate places fealty to the Bible, the Book of Mormon (the text, not the Broadway musical) or some other authority higher than the Constitution and laws of this country. It matters to me whether a president respects serious science and verifiable history — in short, belongs to what an official in a previous administration once scornfully described as “the reality-based community.” I do care if religious doctrine becomes an excuse to exclude my fellow citizens from the rights and protections our country promises.

And I care a lot if a candidate is going to be a Trojan horse for a sect that believes it has divine instructions on how we should be governed.

Reminds me a lot of the type of rhetoric I heard as a kid when Jack Kennedy was the Democratic nominee. There were many in small-town Oklahoma who were worried that Kennedy’s “fealty” would be to the Pope and not to the constitution. Enlightened folks, like my parents, may have not liked his politics, but I never heard that crap spoken at my house. Now, it’s not the under-educated, but the over-educated elites among us that are terrified of someone with religious faith.

We sure have fallen deep down the rabbit hole . . .

For a third night the city of London has been ravaged by rioting youths. Progressives attribute this to joblessness and the lessening of social services. I attribute it to thuggery!

We saw this happen out here in LA in the early 90s after the Rodney King verdict, when South Central erupted into chaos beginning with the severe, near fatal beating of Reginald Denny — who would have guessed it, but the man convicted of mayhem in the Denny beating (one of the “L.A. Four”) was arrested a few weeks ago on suspicion of murder.

I bring that to mind so as to say, it could happen here . . . again.

We saw near chaos conditions in Wisconsin over the Governor signing the bill ending collective bargaining by state workers, and now there are recall elections going on today as Progressives try to undue what the newly-GOP-controlled legislature has wrought in their efforts to bring fiscal sanity to their state government.

The civility of the Progressive movement and its members in Congress has also been on full display recently with the painting of the “Tea Party” folks as the “American Taliban”. Yes Virginia, those mostly white, middle to older aged protesters who gather in mass, make patriotic statements and promote fiscal responsibility, and then clean up after themselves before leaving are a force to be deathly afraid of — according to the main-stream media and Progressive commentators everywhere. Those nice, family-lovin’ SEIU members and New Black Panthers who shut down state government buildings with their protest and intimidate voters at the polls are folks to be revered and honored for standing up for the “little people”.

To fully understand what Progressives want for our country, just mosey over and read their proposed “Contract for the American Dream”, which is a total nightmare for anyone with any sense of fiscal responsibility. Regardless, good Lefties just can’t ever get enough of someone elses money, as witnessed by today’s Michael Hiltzik LA Times piece, “Political leaders unwilling to address economic fix: stimulus”:

A new economic stimulus package is needed to put people to work for state and local governments and on public initiatives that improve education, transportation and quality of life. Without it, Washington will be ignoring the lessons of the 1930s.

In short, although the private sector had not yet stepped up hiring and the Federal Reserve was tightening credit, the government stopped priming the fiscal pump and instead took water out of the bucket.

The result of the new austerity was the severe recession of 1937-38 — the double-dip sequel to the Great Depression. Congress and the Roosevelt White House responded with the most aggressive stimulus program of the New Deal period — stepped up public works construction and housing assistance, and a $3.75-billion relief program.

The new spending evoked shrieks of dismay from conservatives — Democratic Sen. Harry Byrd of Virginia condemned the “present orgy of spending” and demanded a balanced budget and a ruthless purge of relief rolls. But it halted the recession in its tracks.

I thought that the position that Roosevelt’s spending was not what caused the end of the Great Depression, but for WW2 things would have remained pretty dour for a lot longer . . . might even have been the end of this great experiment. Hell of a way to clean up an economic mess, though — and not an option in this day and time of weapons of mass destruction.

Take another look at the photo above, and then think about the incidents at the Wisconsin State Fair over the weekend.

It’s obvious, for some out there among us, we’re only a gnat’s eyelash away from barbarism at any given moment in time. They don’t really need a reason . . . they just have to be in the mood.

This “we” forget to our peril . . .

We mourn the loss of 30 of our finest young men this past weekend, including 22 brave U.S. Navy Seals. May God be with them and their families.

Now it becomes apparent that the Democrats truly are getting desperate! From The Hill:

Jackson Lee [D-TX] said Obama has been targeted unlike any other president.

“I am particularly sensitive to the fact that only this president — only this one, only this one — has received the kind of attacks and disagreement and inability to work, only this one,” said Jackson Lee from the House floor.

“Read between the lines,” she continued. “What is different about this president that should put him in a position that he should not receive the same kind of respectful treatment of when it is necessary to raise the debt limit in order to pay our bills, something required by both statute and the 14th amendment?”

Well for starters, it’s been rare to have a President as petulant as this one. This guys reminds me of a Carter/Nixon combo — not a great mix! Doesn’t earn a great deal of respect to walk away from the talks like he did the other night.

At Bloomberg, it’s being reported that even if the debt ceiling is raised, there’s a 50/50 chance that our top credit rating will be lost. It’s not so much how much more we can borrow, it’s how the bloody hell we’re going to pay it all back!

POTUS, armed with ever more elevated hyperbole warms the nation of economic Armageddon if his plan isn’t enacted . . . now, what was that Obama plan exactly? Guess we’ll have to agree to it and pass it to find out what it is. Dems, gotta LUV ‘em!
