Ted Rall, once relegated to the likes of the free rags like the L.A. Weekly, now appears regularly in our cat-box-liner of record, the Los Angeles Times. Sheesh! The guys’ the epitome of a raging lefty nutter. That would be hyperbole I guess, if it weren’t so very true.

Now that the left has had its head handed to it at the polls, they’re talking violent revolution. Just another good reason to exercise your 2nd Amendment rights and go down and get that case o’ ammo you’ve been saving up for.

They wanna play? Then, it’s lock & load time — Oh, ya betcha!

[Update -- Ed Morrissey from Hot Air reacts to Dylan Ratigan's near endorsement of Rall's call to armed insurrection.]

I don’t find any of this at all remarkable from the execrable Rall, a cartoonist of limited talent who has compensated for it by turning into a crank. What I do find remarkable is this softball interview from Ratigan and MSNBC of a man proposing an armed revolution in the United States after months of hyperbole from MSNBC about the supposed inherent violence and fascism of the Tea Party movement. In fact, Ratigan seems rather intrigued by the potential of such a proposal, while carefully dancing just short of an endorsement. Apparently, that Election Night meltdown wasn’t an isolated case at MSNBC after all.

There is a special reading list being promoted to your K-12 kids in public schools that is chock full of hard-core pornographic material. This list of books was put together under the leadership of GLSEN [Gay Lesbian Straight Education Network] founder Kevin Jennings. More on this outrage later in the post. Oh, by the way . . .

Obama’s administration has an appointed Czar, this very same Kevin Jennings, and his little Czardom is called Safe Schools. We all want our children’s schools to be safe, right? Surely no one in his/her right mind would want us to have unsafe schools.

If only it were that simple. If only safe meant, well, uh safe. Gotta remember folks, these Lefties can parse even the simplest words like is — in this case, they’ve turned the word and concept of safe over and slammed its little head into the ground! As Troy Silva at American Thinker wrote in October:

Kevin Jennings is Safe School Czar not by some vetting breakdown. He was an official in the Obama Campaign as its Gay-Lesbian-Bisexual fund-raising co-chair. For twenty years until 2008, Jennings succeeded on a massive scale at pro-homosexual propagandizing of school children. His adeptness and accomplishment at semantic deception are extraordinary.

In a 1990 “report” for the Massachusetts Governor’s Commission on Gay and Lesbian Youth, it was Jennings himself who re-coined the very term “safe school” to mean a pro-homosexual school. Just as the word “gay” is forever tainted and can now rarely be used in its original sense without prompting the snickers or confusion of the listener, so the term “safe school” is now a post-op product of Jennings that bears no similarity to its original meaning.

{…}

In his revelatory 1995 speech, Jennings accurately stated that in order for his side to win, it was essential to keep control of the terminology, especially the term “safety”. He admittedly seized on the pre-existence of this popular Reagan theme and nomenclature of “safe schools.” The tactic worked well for him; he got his pro-homosexual curriculum in Massachusetts. And if it worked in Massachusetts, Jennings realized that it could work nationwide — and it has.

Orwellian isn’t it? The Left is masterful at subjugation of language to bend it to their own agenda — any means is acceptable to achieve their ends. Now, about those pornographic books — Gateway Pundit has the skinny:

According to GLSEN’s own press releases from the period during which its recommended reading list was developed, the organization’s three areas of focus were creating “educational resources, public policy agenda, [and] student organizing programs”; in other words, the reading list (chief among its “educational resources”) was of prime importance in GLSEN’s efforts to influence the American educational system.

The list is divided into three main categories: books recommended for grades K-6; books recommended for grades 7-12; and books for teachers. (The books on the list span all genres: fiction, nonfiction, memoirs, even poetry.)

Out of curiosity to see exactly what kind of books Kevin Jennings and his organization think American students should be reading in school, our team chose a handful at random from the over 100 titles on GLSEN’s grades 7-12 list, and began reading through.

What we discovered shocked us. We were flabbergasted. Rendered speechless.

We were unprepared for what we encountered. Book after book after book contained stories and anecdotes that weren’t merely X-rated and pornographic, but which featured explicit descriptions of sex acts between pre-schoolers; stories that seemed to promote and recommend child-adult sexual relationships; stories of public masturbation, anal sex in restrooms, affairs between students and teachers, five-year-olds playing sex games, semen flying through the air. One memoir even praised becoming a prostitute as a way to increase one’s self-esteem. Above all, the books seemed to have less to do with promoting tolerance than with an unabashed attempt to indoctrinate students into a hyper-sexualized worldview.

The random selection of books that GP looked at included these:

Queer 13

Being Different

Strong Content Warning if you follow any of the links. However, you should check out one or two just to see what your President and his Safe Schools Czar feel is appropriate reading for your elementary-level, pre-teen and teenagers.

During the CA Proposition 8 campaign last election cycle — the amendment to the California Constitution stating that marriage is to be between one man and one woman — the GLBT forces called those, like this ol’ Okie, who were claiming that the homosexual agenda was going to be pushed into the elementary level of public schools radicals and crazies. In light of Obama’s Safe Schools Czar Jennings’ decades-long radical agenda to sexualize America’s innocents, not so crazy now, eh?

Must be more of that CHANGE candidate Barack Obama kept telling us we all wanted, right? Just more fine personnel put in charge of big sections of the Federal government by The One who the MSM keeps telling us is so much our better. Feel a tingle up your leg yet?

My question to you then: Just how far down the Hard-Left-Rabbit-Hole is this country going to allow itself to be dragged? Elections have consequences and 2010 is comin’ up fast! Get active damn it!

It’s up to US to turn this around before all is lost . . .

It’s the day after Thanksgiving and one thing that honest big-C Conservatives should have expressed thanks for yesterday is Sarah Palin. Palin was a breath of fresh air in last year’s election campaign — she also breathed a big bunch o’ life into John McCain’s efforts, who found himself paired up against a Titanic-sized wave of destiny and looked pretty weak and used up in comparison. Palin was the pit bull, the rabid badger gnawing her way through all the tough issues like abortion, birthing Downs’ babies, the 2nd Amendment and so forth.

The Left is scared absolutely shitless of Sarah Palin. I always thought that it was because of her beliefs and her ability to express them without remorse. But after reading Robin of Berkeley’s piece at American Thinker, I see that it runs much deeper than that. A former hard-core big-L Liberal from whose eyes the scales have fallen, Robin explains what the Left is doing: They are “Wilding” her — just as they “Wild” anyone that doesn’t kowtow to liberal dogma. Here’s a taste of Robin’s thoughts, but you really owe it to yourself to go and read ALL of this one!

Then along came Sarah, and the attacks became particularly heinous. And I realized something even more chilling about the Left. Leftists not only sacrifice and disrespect women, but it’s far worse: many are perpetuators.

The Left’s behavior towards Palin is not politics as usual. By their laser-focus on her body and her sexuality, leftists are defiling her.

They are wilding her. And they do this with the full knowledge and complicity of the White House.

The Left has declared war on Palin because she threatens their existence. Liberals need women dependent and scared so that women, like blacks, will vote Democrat.

A strong, self-sufficient woman, Palin eschews liberal protection. Drop her off in the Alaskan bush and she’ll survive just fine, thank you very much. Palin doesn’t need or want anything from liberals — not hate crimes legislation that coddles her, and not abortion, which she abhors.

Palin is a woman of deep and abiding faith. She takes no marching orders from messiah-like wannabes like Obama.

And so the Left must try to destroy her. And they are doing this in the most malicious of ways: by symbolically raping her.

Just like a perpetuator, they dehumanize her by objectifying her body. They undress her with their eyes.

They turn her into a piece of ass.

Liberals do this by calling her a c__t, ogling her legs, demeaning her with names like “slutty flight attendant” and “Trailer Park Barbie,” and exposing her flesh on the cover of Newsweek.

{…}

The extreme Left still consider themselves warriors, righteous soldiers for their Marxist cause. With Palin, they use sexual violence as part of their military arsenal.

Palin is not the only intended victim. As Against Our Will described, the brutality is also aimed at men. By forcing men to witness Palin’s violation, the Left tries to emasculate conservative men and render them powerless.

{…}

It has been almost two years since I woke up and broke up with liberalism. During these many months, I’ve discovered that everything I believed was wrong.

But the biggest shock of all has been realizing that the Democratic Party is hardly an oasis for women. Now that it has been infiltrated by the hard Left, it’s a dangerous place for women, children, and other living things.

In the wilding of Sarah Palin, the Left shows its true colors. Rather than sheild the vulnerable, leftists will mow down any man, woman, or child who gets in their way. Instead of a movement of hope and change, it is a cauldron of hate.

President Obama has surrounded himself with radical Leftists and his administration is rife with their philosophy of misogyny, their stated goal to change everything, especially the very fabric of our nation, their determination to destroy what’s pure and good about the United States of America!

Sarah Palin is a giant speed bump in the highway of their statist objectives. She’s not just another woman politician — Sarah Palin is the real deal.

Move over Obamessiah — “It’s gonna take a woman to clean up <strike>this</strike> YOUR mess!”

Making comparisons to the identities and policies between George W. Bush’s presidency and that of the current White House resident’s, The Anchoress asks Leftists: Why Don’t You Hate Obama?

There’s lots there to read, and it’s intriguing to contemplate, so go and read it all. Here’s a bit o’ the wrap up.

In reviewing all this, it does seem to me that this passionate “hate” of George W. Bush is based not on substance but on style. Obama swagger is cool; Bush swagger was arrogant. Obama arrogance is “confidence.” Bush confidence was “ignorance.” Obama’s misspeaks and gaffes are ignored, Bush’s were magnified. Obama looks good. Bush looked goofy. All that “hate” seems to be part of an adolescent values system that is willing to overlook a multitude of sins as long as you get to belong to the jock/cheerleader clique, and not the Nerd/AV gang.

Although some seem to be tireless in their efforts to convince me that I should “hate” President Bush as much as they think I “hate” President Obama, I don’t think we should “hate” anyone, and I am not seriously suggesting that you “should” hate President Obama. I am simply wondering why two men can do very similar (sometimes exactly the same) things, and the first man’s actions can garner your life-long, cockle-warming hate, while the other man’s actions go overlooked and your cockles go agreeably cold.

“Change is a comin’, the change is a comin’ — Screw the hope . . .”

Oh boy — here we go folks, and my own representative, Henry Waxman, D-Calif., the chairman of the House Energy and Commerce committee, leads the health-care-bill-panic-parade:

House Democratic leaders, pledging to meet the president’s goal of health care legislation before their August break, are offering a $1.5 trillion plan that for the first time would make health care a right and a responsibility for all Americans. Left to pick up most of the tab were medical providers, employers and the wealthy.

“We cannot allow this issue to be delayed. We cannot put it off again[.] We, quite frankly, cannot go home for a recess unless the House and the Senate both pass bills to reform and restructure our health care system.”

Included in the bill will be “a surtax on millionaires of 5.4 percent”, gotta pay for all this free health care ya know? They’re bettin’ on folks like most of us sayin’, “Screw them millionaires — it’s not like we’ll be one o’ them anytime soon!” What they aren’t gonna tell ya is that a millionaire surtax isn’t going to cover this monster of a program — not even close. The tax implications will go waaaaay down the income chain and that won’t be enough. Only rationing and finally denial of services to the elderly and chronically infirm will make it even remotely feasible — and that’s a stretch. Just try getting treatment for arthritis in the UK!

Thousands of rheumatoid arthritis sufferers face a lifetime of agony because they are not being treated quickly enough, a report says.

Guidelines state that patients should receive treatment within three months of the first symptoms appearing.

But the average wait is nine months – and GPs are not trained well enough to know what help to offer.

That’s what Obamacare will bring to the US. Crunch the numbers — there’s no way around it. There’s no bi-partisan support for this fiasco either, but that isn’t going to stop this most-leftist-in-chief and his Democrat Congressional majority from jammin’ it down our throats or more likely, up our collective wazzoos!

But, why would our newly-minted <strike>President</strike> Obamessiah want to punish such a large number of his own <strike>subjects</strike> people? Well, if you consider the track record of the man that he has made the Science Czar, John Holdren — maybe <strike>His Majesty</strike> President Obama thinks that humans are the biggest problem in the world, a virus that needs to be controlled, contained, eliminated bit by bit — so that Gaia can return to a state of un-human-contaminated grace? Just askin’ . . .

In her syndicated column today Michelle Malkin compares the mainstream media’s shocked reaction to the “evangelical Christian faith of NIH director-designate Francis Collins” with their complete ignoring of John Holdren’s lifelong record of support for eugenics, forced sterilization & abortion, and world-wide draconian measures to control the world’s human population.

If a conservative blogger or Republican political candidate had published such lunatic claptrap, the Department of Homeland Security would have him on a watchlist. Instead, Holdren is Overlord of Science Policy. “Ecoscience” remains on his curriculum vitae. Obama is still perceived as the champion of reason. And the national media, so concerned about the dangers posed by a born-again Christian scientist, have responded to a secular extremist’s wild blueprints for forced abortions and mass sterilizations with a collective shrug. Scary.

Go and spend time with the Malkin piece, and then follow the ZombiTime link to the source documents. All this preoccupation with humans as a curse to the world gets me to thinkin’ about our ol’ University of Texas buddy, Professor Eric R. Pianka, who believes that “90% of humans must die.”

Oh, and the best part, as Malkin also reveals:

Well, I have indeed read one of Holdren’s recent works that reveals his clingy reverence for, and allegiance to, the gurus of population control authoritarianism. He’s just gotten smarter about cloaking it behind global warming hysteria.

Just last Sunday we experienced the out-in-the-open revelation that the Greenies, led by good ol’ Al Gore, will give it their best shot to rule the world for our own good. They’re gonna get loads of help from good ol’ population-control-by-any-and-all-means-possible Obama Science Czar, John Holdren.

Tons of Change — but not much Hope! Elections. Have. Consequences!

Former Vice President Al Gore declared that the Congressional climate bill will help bring about “global governance.”

“I bring you good news from the U.S., “Gore said on July 7, 2009 in Oxford at the Smith School World Forum on Enterprise and the Environment, sponsored by UK Times.

“Just two weeks ago, the House of Representatives passed the Waxman-Markey climate bill,” Gore said, noting it was “very much a step in the right direction.” President Obama has pushed for the passage of the bill in the Senate and attended a G8 summit this week where he agreed to attempt to keep the Earth’s temperatures from rising more than 2 degrees C.

Gore touted the Congressional climate bill, claiming it “will dramatically increase the prospects for success” in combating what he sees as the “crisis” of man-made global warming.

“But it is the awareness itself that will drive the change and one of the ways it will drive the change is through global governance and global agreements.”

Of course, some redistribution of wealth needs to go along with all that governance don’t ya know?

The environmental group Friends of the Earth advocated the transfer of money from rich to poor nations during the 2007 UN climate conference.

“A climate change response must have at its heart a redistribution of wealth and resources,” said Emma Brindal, a climate justice campaigner coordinator for Friends of the Earth.

Meanwhile, our very own environmental <strike>fascist</strike> Senator, Barbara Boxer sees doom and gloom for all if Waxman-Markey doesn’t pass the Senate:

If the Senate doesn’t pass a bill to cut global warming, Democratic Sen. Barbara Boxer says, there will be dire results: droughts, floods, fires, loss of species, damage to agriculture, worsening air pollution and more.

She says there’s a huge upside, however, if the Senate does act: millions of clean-energy jobs, reduced reliance on foreign oil and less pollution for the nation’s children.

Let’s make this real simple so even those worshiping Al Gore and the environuts can understand — these guys don’t believe this crap — if they did they’d live differently, which they don’t. What they want is your money — ALL of your money, so that they can spend it on hastening the demise of the United States into a Leftist, statists, totally federally-controlled utopian society of their own making.

Hasn’t the world tried that far to many times already?

Wow, the elitist waging war on our culture sure have been busy! Earlier I wrote about a Florida University that can’t stomach holiday decorations. A little closer to home, (too damn close mind you!), more of those enlightened individuals known as college/university professors have decided that kindergarten kids wearing traditional Thanksgiving day costumes is demeaning to native Americans. Oh, please . . .

For decades, Claremont kindergartners have celebrated Thanksgiving by dressing up as pilgrims and Native Americans and sharing a feast. But on Tuesday, when the youngsters meet for their turkey and songs, they won’t be wearing their hand-made bonnets, headdresses and fringed vests.

Parents in this quiet university town are sharply divided over what these construction-paper symbols represent: A simple child’s depiction of the traditional (if not wholly accurate) tale of two factions setting aside their differences to give thanks over a shared meal? Or a cartoonish stereotype that would never be allowed of other racial, ethnic or religious groups?

“It’s demeaning,” Michelle Raheja, the mother of a kindergartner at Condit Elementary School, wrote to her daughter’s teacher. “I’m sure you can appreciate the inappropriateness of asking children to dress up like slaves (and kind slave masters), or Jews (and friendly Nazis), or members of any other racial minority group who has struggled in our nation’s history.”

{…}

Raheja, an English professor at UC Riverside who specializes in Native American literature, said she met with teachers and administrators in hopes that the district could hold a public forum to discuss alternatives that celebrate thankfulness without “dehumanizing” her daughter’s ancestry.

Nice to know that someone teaching at the university level in SoCal thinks that “Jews (and friendly Nazis)” are part of “our nation’s history”. Excuse me Michelle, wasn’t that Nazi Germany? Getting your oppressed peoples a tad bit mixed up aren’t we?

Last week, rumors began to circulate on both campuses that the district was planning to cancel the event, and infuriated parents argued over the matter at a heated school board meeting Thursday. District Supt. David Cash announced at the end of the meeting that the two schools had tentatively decided to hold the event without the costumes, and sent a memo to parents Friday confirming the decision.

Cash and the principals of Condit and Mountain View did not respond to interview requests.

But many parents, who are convinced the decision was made before the board meeting, accused administrators of bowing to political correctness.

Life is getting more and more like South Park’s Mr. Hankey episode.

This Christmas-themed episode of South Park opens as the children rehearse their Christmas play. They are performing a Christian Nativity, and when Kyle’s mother hears of this, she is infuriated by the play, because her son, a Jew, plays the role of Joseph. Mrs. Broflovski is offended by the Christian imagery, and demands that the religious elements be taken out of the public school Christmas pageant, since they don’t celebrate Christmas. (…)

Mayor McDaniels decides that anything offensive to anyone will be removed from the Christmas celebrations, including Santa Claus, wreaths, trees, stars, lights, candy canes, and mistletoe. (…)

Ultimately, the school Christmas pageant, along with the whole town, is stripped of all symbols of Christmas, as anything that does resemble Christmas is deemed offensive by someone (…) . Instead, the children present a minimalist song and dance created by Philip Glass. The parents, astounded by how awful the pageant has turned out, begin blaming one another for destroying Christmas, and a fight breaks out.

If that doesn’t sound a heck of a lot like this . . .

Among the costume supporters, there is a vein of suspicion that casts Raheja and others opposed to the costumes as agenda-driven elitists. Of the handful of others who spoke with Raheja against the costumes at the board meeting, one teaches at the University of Redlands, one is an instructor at Riverside Community College, and one is a former Pitzer College professor.

Raheja is “using those children as a political platform for herself and her ideas,” Constance Garabedian said as her 5-year-old Mountain View kindergartner happily practiced a song about Native Americans in the background. “I’m not a professor and I’m not a historian, but I can put the dots together.”

{…}

“Its always a good thing to think about, critically, how we teach kids, even from very young ages, the message we want them to learn, and the respect for the diversity of the American experiences,” said Jennifer Tilton, an assistant professor of race and ethnic studies at the University of Redlands and a Claremont parent who opposes the costumes.

Ya know? Sometimes a bit too much education is a debilitating thing. Don’t think that everyone that teaches at the college and university level are super-smart. From the way they carry on, a good lot o’ them don’t know “Mr. Hankey” from Shinola!

Michelle Raheja — You are truly deserving of Okie’s Head Up The Wazzoo Award!

Say “howdy” to Mr. Hankey for me . . .

We’ve discussed this before — that the college and university system is hell-bent on the destruction of Judeo-Christian culture. If you have kids going to Florida Gulf Coast University you better be all in with that ’cause they ain’t about to let a little Christmas cheer be spread around, not in their precious little secular enclave. The Fort Myers News-Press has the skinny:

Christmas is just 30 days away, but Santa Claus won’t be stopping by Florida Gulf Coast University this holiday.

He’s not allowed on campus.

FGCU administration has banned all holiday decorations from common spaces on campus and canceled a popular greeting card design contest, which is being replaced by an ugly sweater competition. In Griffin Hall, the university’s giving tree for needy preschoolers has been transformed into a “giving garden.”

The moves boil down to political correctness.

“Public institutions, including FGCU, often struggle with how best to observe the season in ways that honor and respect all traditions,” President Wilson Bradshaw wrote in a memo to faculty and staff Thursday. “This is a challenging issue each year at FGCU, and 2008 is no exception. While it may appear at times that a vocal majority of opinion is the only view that is held, this is not always the case.”

They received 44 anonymous comments, all against the decorations ban. The staff and students quoted in the article were all good with having holiday decorations. Only the Lilly-livered, oh-my-god-they’re-gonna-sue-the-pants-off-us, POS university administrators are for it.

Just another firefight in the Culture Wars.

Be careful where you send your kids to school — they aren’t just learnin’ math, science and history — they’re being brainwashed by the secular humanists in our midst. Send your sweet little Janie and little Johnny to the wrong institution and you might just get back your very own Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn. There’s a holiday thought for the ages — oh, ya betcha!

I supported the California initiative Proposition 8 and even worked on videos for the ProtectMarriage.com effort. My YouTube profile is now constantly under attack by LGBT hate-mongers, although their profane comments roll off my back like water off a duck’s — I’ve read deeply into my Richard Marcinko and I could out-cuss the little suckers with nary an effort! What is most distressing are the efforts on the part of the LGBT community to attack the Mormon Church. These attacks are now the tip of the spear in their zeal to organize that community all over the country to complete the destruction the traditional meaning of marriage all across the land. John at Article 6 Blog comments on a NY Times letter-to-the-editor about this:

Now for starters, let us consider that running a campaign and winning a vote is BY DEFINITION “civil” whilst riots, vandalism, forcing people out of jobs, and threats of physical harm, are all, likewise BY DEFINITION NOT CIVIL! If we accept for the sake of argument that this is a civil rights issue (which I DO NOT – how can something that we issue a license for be a right?) these people forget the essential lesson of Martin Luther King’s non-violent civil disobedience campaign. It was in the non-threatening, non-destructive nature of the King lead protests, and the violent ugly response of the governmental and non-governmental oppressors, that the nation learned the lesson of the wrong of segregation. All we are learning from the activities of the so-called LGBT community after Prop 8 is that they are a bunch of self-involved, petulant, violent miscreants more obsessed with their own desire than the simple peace of the community.

I’ve said it here before and will do so again. I don’t wish harm, or even second-class citizen status for those attracted to same sex relationships. If they are willing to make legal-long-term commitments to each other they should have the same legal rights as opposite sex couples. However, the traditional meaning of the word “marriage” does not have to be abrogated/hijacked in this regard. Marriage has traditional and religious connotations. To apply that term to same-sex unions makes the term “marriage” meaningless — which is what I think the more radical of the LGBT activists have in mind. It’s just another attack by the secular humanists to bring down the Judeo-Christian basis of our culture and our laws.

Ask a LGBT protester that if society granted ALL the rights and benefits of opposite-sex marriage to same-sex unions but under a different name, such as “domestic partner” or “civil union” would that get them to stop pushing for “gay marriage”? The answer is no, Hell NO!

Not satisfied with being tolerated, this group wants acceptance — total acceptance by any and all. In fact, they want their lifestyles depicted in the light of being as much of an ideal for society as opposite sex unions — to do anything less would violate their “civil rights”. Well, since there’s no scientific evidence that shows sexual preference as being hard-wired into ourselves, to call one’s sexuality a civil right is an insult to the Civil Rights Movement.

There’s a gauntlet being thrown down here by both sides.

Just another battlefront in the ever-ongoing Culture Wars.

In case you just came back from a trip to Mars or something, last week the voters of the state of California, for the second time in 8 years, declared that “marriage” in CA is to be defined as between one man and one woman. This Constitutional “amendment” overturned last summer’s ruling by the CA Supreme Court that had struck down Prop 22, which had passed with over 60% majority in 2000. Prop 8 was a lot closer result, but it still was a majority vote, which is all that is needed to “amend” the CA Constitution. So much for the will of the people out here!

The anti-Prop 8 folks are getting more hyper and more in-your-face with the passing of every new day. The effort to scour the public information on donors to the pro-Prop 8 campaign that preceded the election has turned into a Herculean effort to find and denigrate any and all who supported this amendment. Diana West describes one such effort that happened in West Hollywood where a group of anti-Prop 8 protesters had a “meeting” with the elderly Mormon owner of El Coyote restaurant. Her “crime”? She gave a $100 donation in support of Prop 8. [H/t: Michelle Malkin]

Only. One. Hundred. Measly. Little. Dollars.

“I’m sick of heart that I’ve offended anyone in the gay community,” said Marjorie Christoffersen, co-owner of El Coyote Mexican Cafe for 17 years. “I have had, and do have family, friends, and people I work with of course who are gay…and you are treasured people to me.”

The tall, frail Christoffersen stood in the center of the group. She appeared to be shaking during her prepared remarks which lasted about 3 minutes. Two young female family members flanked her to prevent her from fainting, according to a restaurant employee. At several points during her speech, Christoffersen simply became too emotional to continue.

El Coyote has become the latest casualty in the local outburst against the passage of Proposition 8, an anti-marriage amendment [sic] to the California State Constitution. Dozens of e-mails and websites, including the popular online local guide, Yelp.com, have urged boycotting the legendary cafe in recent days.

Christoffersen, who is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, insisted that her donation was personal, and reflected her religious faith.

“I’ve been a member of the Mormon Church all my life,” she said. “This was a personal donation. In like fashion, any employee here would be free to donate, worship or support anything of their personal choosing.”

Freedom, the Golden Rule, conscience–none of it is good enough for the commissars.

John at Article 6 Blog sees the rise in violent, now criminal behavior by the anti-Prop 8 crowd.

First they set fire to a copy of The Book of Mormon on the church steps and now they are sending white powder (can you say “anthrax”?) envelopes to LDS temples. Of course, now that things have advanced from merely civilly disobedient to downright criminal, these acts are plausibly deniable – it has yet to be established with certainty that they are response to the Prop 8 vote, but suspicions may reasonably run very strong.

Meanwhile, creedal services are being disrupted, but as yet, have avoided death threats. I remain both fascinated and repulsed by the disproportionate level of this vile that is being aimed at the LDS, and dismayed that the voices of the traditional church expressing solidarity are being left unheeded in the media.

Lowell chimes in that ProtectMarriage.com will be holding a press conference today at noon that will contain “some remarkable statements” and advises all of us to pay close attention to the news over the weekend.

I’m sure there are someones out there that would like to get the our President-elect to weigh in on this, to denounce the acts of domestic terrorism that are now taking place by the tantrum-throwing group of the electorate that won’t accept their loss at the polls. But now that unrepentant-domestic-terrorist Bill Ayers has acknowledged that he and ol’ Barry ‘O’ are “family friends”, don’t count on it!

I say that we find out who contributed to Prop-8 and give them our business. As for the violent protesters turned terrorists, I like one of Michelle’s commenter’s advice:

Clean, lock and load.

Iowahawk got a bit of flack for his thoughtful, and for once serious, post on Joe the Plumber. So, in a nod to the coming Fairness Doctrine if the Obamessiah should triumph next week he makes amends and does a courtesy tribute to the radical, unrepentant-domestic-terrorist and Obama buddy Bill Ayers titled I AM BILL“. Here’s a taste:

I AM BILL. I love traveling the highways and byways of this great, puke-inducing country we call America, visiting its police stations and ROTC buildings and legislative halls. And when the pigs finally catch up with me and dad hires a legal team to get me off on a technicality, it lets me know that yes, Bill, you can go home again.

I AM BILL. I may have started small. But I still have a crazy plan that one day I will make it big and finally plunge this danged country of ours into a bloody cataclysmic race war. And if you think you can stand in the way of my dream, or escape my escape-proof reeducation death camps, well, then you don’t know me.

I AM BILL. I’m still married my to my college sweetheart, and we believe in family values. Especially Manson Family values. After all these years she still hands me my lunchbox at the door every morning, which she has packed with a chocolate kiss and a tiny pinch of Semtex from her hope chest. I can’t imagine where I’d be without this woman and her law school salary. Because no matter what I accomplish in this world, this beautiful, insane bitch will always be the real psychopath in the house.

Ya just gotta read it all!

The White House is disappointed and confounded as to why former Bush Press Secretary Scott McClellan would write such a damning tell-all book, What Happened, and have it released before the ’08 elections. Brent Baker at NewsBusters.org seems to have the reason pegged: Just the well-heeled ‘Progressives’ playin’ their usual game, with McClellan the willing dupe, the usual useful idiot this time.

Peter Osnos, who wrote Wednesday that he “worked very closely” with Scott McClellan on McClellan’s new book published by PublicAffairs which Osnos founded, is a liberal whose publishing house is affiliated with the far-left The Nation magazine and the publisher of The Prosecution of George W. Bush for Murder. PublicAffairs has a roster of authors who are nearly all liberals and/or liberal-leaning mainstream media figures, including six books by far-left bank-roller George Soros. On Wednesday’s CBS Evening News, Ari Fleischer related that “Scott told me that his editor did ‘tweak,’ in Scott’s word, a lot of the writing, especially in the last few months.”

The release of McClellan’s book was a well inside the ‘A’ section of the LA Times yesterday, but today a blurb for the reactions to it made page one, below the fold, (Some headlines altered for online version). No kidding.

Dana Perino, Bush’s current press secretary, offered a part-starchy, part-sympathetic appraisal. In a statement delivered to reporters in Colorado, where the president was about to speak at the U.S. Air Force Academy commencement, she said: “Scott, we know, is disgruntled about his experience at the White House.

“For those of us who fully supported him before, during and after he was press secretary, we are puzzled. It is sad — this is not the Scott we knew,” she said.

Later, she said Bush was “puzzled” by McClellan’s account. “He doesn’t recognize this as the Scott McClellan that he hired and confided in and worked with for so many years,” Perino said, adding that Bush was “disappointed that, if he had these concerns and these thoughts, he never came to him or anyone else on the staff that we know of.”

Does the article bother to mention the publisher or such strong anti-Bush connections contributing to the work? Are you kidding? Crickets chirping . . . Back at the NewsBusters’ piece, Matthew Sheffield provides this update:

The media’s lack of interest in pursuing the Soros angle of McClellan’s story is a perfect contrast to Katie Couric’s charge that former press secretary’s critics were somehow coordinating “talking points.”

It’s also interesting to note that when it came to former Clinton admin officials writing tell-alls, the liberal press took a decidedly negative approach.

No MSM bias now . . . nah, never! Tell-alls — who reads this stuff? I don’t want to know ya!

ProtectMarriage.com is a site dedicated to the upcoming Nov. CA ballot initiative that would amend the California Constitution to define “marriage” as the union between one man and one woman — essentially overruling the CA Supreme Court’s judicial fiat from yesterday that turned this millennium-old establishment on its head. In thirty days gays and lesbians will be able to legally become husband & husband or wife & wife in CA. While I don’t begrudge any two adult folks the right to live together as they see fit, nor would I want to deny them benefits as supplied under “civil unions”, but for them to demand that “marriage” be redefined just because it suits them is absurd. I covered the reasons why yesterday.

Go to the Protect Marriage website and do what you can. And, don’t buy the media hype and MSM support of the CA Supreme’s decision. The LA Times weighed in today, and it was just as I had suspected it would be.

The Anchoress examines the possible fallout to the Churches in her InsideCatholic.com article, and follows up with more on her blog.

A civil union is a mere legality. It can be defined any way the state wishes, but it leaves the church out of the question of who may “legally” be married and protects her ability to bestow sacraments and practice the faith free from “discrimination” lawsuits and the inevitable punitive damages that can materially destroy her.

Depending on how the courts go, we could conceivably see this issue coming up in a lot of states, and then there will be a press for federal recognition of gay marriage. If the church does not take steps to protect herself now, by advocating this sort of separation of duties and intents, she will be spending a lot of time and money (and losing tax-free status, of course) fighting for the right to practice the faith without government interference.

It’s serious this time folks! Time to get to work . . .

One of my design clients is creating a website titled Collapse of America [sorry, subscription site only -- maybe not sorry, this is a nutty type of deal!] With today’s ruling by the California State Supreme Court making homosexual marriage legal in CA, maybe he’s on to something.

Gay and lesbian couples in San Francisco rejoiced Thursday over a California Supreme Court decision affirming their right to marry even as political leaders on both sides of the issue girded for an extended fight in the courts and at the ballot box.

“It’s just amazing to feel like I am a full citizen — I am not a second-class citizen,” said Christmas Laubrile, a nurse, who was with her partner, Alice Heimsoth. “I don’t have to sit in the back of the bus, and I don’t have to take second best.”

I love it when the nutters out here celebrate their part in the demise of values and cultural norms that go back for many millennium. Redefining the meaning of “marriage” as the court now has done will do nothing good for our society. In fact, with marriage in California no longer established as a union between one man and one woman, how can any court put this genie back in its bottle and decline to acknowledge polygamous marriages, marriages between a human and its pet, car, its own kid? This slippery slope’s done been slid and we’ll find ourselves plunging into the abyss way sooner than later.

Even as gay rights groups hailed the decision, however, opponents of same-sex marriage said they were submitting petitions to put the issue to a test before California voters in November. They are proposing an amendment to the state constitution that would ban same-sex marriage.

Our wonderful RINO Gov. Arnold won’t support this effort — for him the “Court” has spoken. Guess that’s another good reason we have TERMinator limits here in the granola state. I don’t have any problem with civil unions that bestow rights and privileges to gay and lesbian couples that want to make that type of commitment to each other. It’s wrong to spend a lifetime together and not have death benefit rights, or hospital visiting rights and such. But that is not enough for the gay activists. Dennis Prager has long been outspoken in his objections to a redefinition of marriage.

Among gay activists the reason is narcissism. Though gays already have the right to raise children without an opposite-sex parent and the right to adopt children, gay activists want society to enshrine one-sex parenting with its highest seal of approval — marriage. For gay activists, the fact that a child does best with a good mother and good father is of no significance (or worse, denied). All that matters is what is good for gays.

Yep! It’s that “N” word rearin’ its ugly head again. Gay marriage is another example of “It’s all about me, Me ME!!!”

To hell with society, to hell with you — don’t ya know?

IT’S ALL ABOUT ME!

As if Western societies in Europe didn’t have enough to be concerned about, — with falling birth rates, ever increasing immigration from Muslim countries and the inevitable resulting Islamization from such as well as the continual decline in Judeo-Christian beliefs — along come the Swiss bringing to the world the concept of “plant rights”. [h/t: See Dubya] The Weekly Standard article, The Silent Scream of the Asparagus by Wesley J. Smith — senior fellow at the Discovery Institute, an attorney for the International Task Force on Euthanasia and Assisted Suicide, and a special consultant to the Center for Bioethics and Culture — gives us a preview look at just how stupid and insane our European brethern have become as their culture spirals into ever increasing moral irrelevance.

You just knew it was coming: At the request of the Swiss government, an ethics panel has weighed in on the “dignity” of plants and opined that the arbitrary killing of flora is morally wrong. This is no hoax. The concept of what could be called “plant rights” is being seriously debated.

{…}

A “clear majority” of the panel adopted what it called a “biocentric” moral view, meaning that “living organisms should be considered morally for their own sake because they are alive.” Thus, the panel determined that we cannot claim “absolute ownership” over plants and, moreover, that “individual plants have an inherent worth.” This means that “we may not use them just as we please, even if the plant community is not in danger, or if our actions do not endanger the species, or if we are not acting arbitrarily.”

{…}

What is clear, however, is that Switzerland’s enshrining of “plant dignity” is a symptom of a cultural disease that has infected Western civilization, causing us to lose the ability to think critically and distinguish serious from frivolous ethical concerns. It also reflects the triumph of a radical anthropomorphism that views elements of the natural world as morally equivalent to people.

Once you loose sight of or reject the religious concept of “primacy” of the human species, the inherent worth of the human being as God’s greatest creation, what is left to allow the thought that Mankind has the right to use the planet, its land, its animals and its plants, for Mankind’s own benefit? Nothin’, Nyet, NADA! Lose God, and you lose everything. This is what is so scary about the secularists’ movement — they are so in love with Gaia, Mother Earth, or so loathsome of themselves, that they view eradication of humanity a good thing.

Eschewing humans as the pinnacle of “creation” (to borrow the term used in the Swiss constitution) has caused environmentalism to mutate from conservationism–a concern to properly steward resources and protect pristine environs and endangered species–into a willingness to thwart human flourishing to “save the planet.” Indeed, the most radical “deep ecologists” have grown so virulently misanthropic that Paul Watson, the head of the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, called humans “the AIDS of the earth,” requiring “radical invasive therapy” in order to reduce the population of the earth to under a billion.

Paul Watson, meet “90% of Humans Must Die” Erik R. Pianka. You guys could really “party on, dudes”! I know I wouldn’t want to be on the guest list . . . But, back to this Swiss thing — giving “rights” to plants. There’s a funny sequence in the movie Notting Hill where the main character is being set up on a series of dates, with one being a vegetarian, one a pescetarian, only eats fish, and one a fruitarian, only eats products that actually fall off plants, like fruits and berries. “Yes”, she says to him as he passes her a platter, “Those carrots have been murdered!” Get the picture?

Smith wraps it up with this:

One Swiss scientist quoted in the editorial worried that “plant dignity” provides “another tool for opponents to argue against any form of plant biotechnology” despite the hope it offers to improve crop yields and plant nutrition.

What folly. We live in a time of cornucopian abundance and plenty, yet countless human beings are malnourished, even starving. In the face of this cruel paradox, worry about the purported rights of plants is the true immorality.

Without God, there is no “morality”! We’re gettin’ in big trouble here folks . . .

There is much available in print and on the web about Guevara, as you can easily see if you follow that link to his Wikipedia page. Fontova is out to separate the man from the myth — showing us a “Che” that is neither brave nor majestic, just crude, cowardly and homicidal to the core.

I can’t wait to get hold of a copy of this important book, as the mere taste of the teasers given during today’s interview are powerfully compelling. To give you an ideal of Fontova’s writing, one can read his online articles. In one of his FrontPage Mag articles from May 2006, Fontova highlights the Cuba that Castro and Che tore apart in their so-called “workers’ revolution”.

Here’s a UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) report on Cuba circa 1957 that dispels the fantasies of pre-Castro Cuba still cherished by America’s most prestigious academics and its most learned film critics: “One feature of the Cuban social structure is a large middle class,” it starts. “Cuban workers are more unionized (proportional to the population) than U.S. workers. The average wage for an 8 hour day in Cuba in 1957 is higher than for workers in Belgium, Denmark, France and Germany. Cuban labor receives 66.6 per cent of gross national income. In the U.S. the figure is 70 per cent, in Switzerland 64 per cent. 44 per cent of Cubans are covered by Social legislation, a higher percentage then in the U.S.”

In 1958 Cuba had a higher per-capita income than Austria and Japan. Cuban industrial workers had the 8th highest wages in the world. In the 1950′s Cuban stevedores earned more per hour than their counterparts in New Orleans and San Francisco. Cuba had established an 8 hour work-day in 1933 — five years before FDR’s New Dealers got around to it. Add to this: one months paid vacation. The much-lauded (by liberals) Social-Democracies of Western Europe didn’t manage this until 30 years later.

Cuba, a country 71% white in 1957, was completely desegregated 30 years before Rosa Parks was dragged off that Birmingham bus and handcuffed. In 1958 Cuba had more female college graduates per capita than the U.S.

Doesn’t sound like it needed a “revolution” to help the poor working class, now does it. Does make one wonder why our intellectual class and University professors across the land worship the thought and image of “Che”. How many Che t-shirts have you seen out there? Far too many, that’s for damn sure. Here is a long excerpt from another Fontova FP article, this one posted on the anniversary of Che’s death last fall. It’s value here is self explanatory.

Employing interrogation techniques lovingly imparted by their East German STASI and Russian KGB, mentors, Cuba’s security forces finally pinpointed Tony’s hideout. As always, the Russian-trained Castroites came in overwhelming force and heavily armed with Soviet weapons. As always their foe was suicidally valiant, horribly outnumbered and utterly devoid of allies. Invariably, this characterized the armed exploits of a regime still revered as a “valiant underdog” by millions of imbeciles worldwide.

Castro and Che’s troops finally closed on Tony and captured him after a ferocious firefight where Tony took 17 bullets from their Czech machine guns, mostly in his legs.

As reverential and studious Stalinists, the Castroites desperately wanted Tony alive for a show trial, the better to terrorize and cow their subjects.

The Reds took Tony to a hospital and doctors patched him up–not completely now, just enough to keep him alive until his trial. Shortly he was dumped in La Cabana’s dungeons and fed just enough to keep him alive. A month later they went through the farce of a trial and the verdict–naturally–was death by firing squad.

On the way to the stake at the old Spanish fort turned to a prison and execution ground by Che Guevara, Tony was forced to hobble down some cobblestone stairs Again Tony pelted his captors with dreadful curses and stinging abuse, ”Russian lackeys!” Tony yelled again as they dragged him off. “Idiots!”

Tony’s insults hit home and stung. Finally a furious guard lost it. “CABRON!” (you B**tard!) He yanked Tony’s crutch away while another gallant Commie– WHUMP!– kicked the crippled freedom-fighter powerfully from behind. Tony tumbled down the long row of steps and finally lay on the cobblestones at the bottom, writhing and grimacing. One of Tony’s bullet- riddled legs had been amputated at the hospital, the other was gangrened and covered in pus. The Castroite guards cackled as they moved in to gag Tony with their tape.

Tony watched them approach while balling his good hand into a fist. Then as the first Red reached him –BASH!! right across his eyes. “AYEEH!” the Castroite staggered back while rubbing his face.

“You!…YOU!…..his gallant partner rushed towards Tony who was getting a good grip on his crutch with his other hand. BASH!!–Tony smashed the Red with his wooden crutch. “CABRON!” The enraged Castroites yelped for help against their helpless (as always) enemy.

“I’ll never understand how Tony survived that beating,” says eye-witness Hiram Gonzalez who watched from his window on death-row, screaming in helpless rage at the Communist guards. The crippled Tony was almost killed in the kicking, punching, gun-bashing melee but finally his captors stood off, panting and rubbing their scrapes and bruises. They’d managed to tape the battered boys mouth, but Tony pushed the guards away before they bound his hands. Their commander nodded, motioning for them to back off.

Now Tony started crawling towards the splintered and blood-spattered execution stake about fifty yards away, pushing and dragging himself with his hands as his stump of a leg left a trail of blood on the grass. As he neared the stake he’d stop and start pounding himself in the chest. His executioners seemed perplexed. The crippled boy was trying to say something. But his message was muzzled by the gag the gallant friend of George McGovern made obligatory for his thousands of execution victims.

Tony’s blazing eyes and grimace said enough. But no one could understand the boy’s mumblings. Tony kept pushing himself, shutting his eyes tightly from the agony of the effort. His executioners shuffled nervously, raised their rifles, lowered them. They looked towards their commander who shrugged. Finally Tony reached up to his face and ripped off the tape that George McGovern’s sparkling dinner companion required for his condemned.

The 20 year-old freedom-fighter’s voice boomed out. “Shoot me RIGHT HERE!” roared Tony at his gaping executioners. His voice thundered and his head bobbed with the effort. “Right in the CHEST!” Tony yelled. “Like a MAN!” Tony stopped and ripped open his shirt, pounding his chest and grimacing as his gallant executioners gaped and shuffled. “Right HERE!” he pounded.

On his last day alive, Tony had received a letter in jail from his mother. “My dear son,” she counseled. “How often I’d warned you not to get involved in these things. But I knew my pleas were vain. You always demanded your freedom, Tony, even as a little boy. So I knew you’d never stand for communism. Well, Castro and Che finally caught you. Son, I love you with all my heart. My life is now shattered and will never be the same, but the only thing left now, Tony….. is to die like a man.”

“FUEGO!!” Castro’s lackey yelled the command and the bullets shattered Tony’s crippled body, just as he’d reached the stake, lifted himself and stared resolutely at his murderers. But Castro’s firing squads usually murder a hero who is standing. The legless Tony presented an awkward target. So some of the volley went wild and missed the youngster. Time for the coup de grace.

Normally it’s one .45 slug that shatters the skull. Eye-witnesses say Tony required… POW!-POW!….POW!– three. Seems the executioner’s hands were shaking pretty badly. But they finally managed. The man Time Magazine’s hails among the “heroes and icons of the Century” had another notch in his gun. Another enemy dispatched–bound and gagged as usual.

Castro and Che were in their mid-thirties when they murdered Tony. According to the authoritative Black Book of Communism their firing squads riddled another 14,000 bound and gagged freedom-fighters. Many (perhaps most) of their murder victims were boys in their early twenties and late-teens. Some were even younger. Carlos Machado and his twin brother Ramon were fifteen when they spat in the face of their communist executioners and died singing their national anthem as lustily as they cursed Che Guevara’s Internationale. Their dad collapsed from same volley alongside them.

Compare Carlos and Tony’s death to Guevara’s capture: “Don’t shoot!” whimpered the arch-assassin to his captors. “I’m Che! I’m worth more to you alive than dead!”

Then ask yourselves: who’s face belongs on T-shirts worn by youth who fancy themselves, rebellious, freedom-loving and brave?

As Fantova said on the radio, it’s a complete oxymoron for the peaceniks to run around wearing “Che” t-shirts. Might as well wear a “Himmler” shirt to a Holocaust memorial! Sheesh! What a bunch of morons, Liberals, Progressives, Intellectuals; Useful Idiots!

Barack Obama will require you to work. He is going to demand that you shed your cynicism. That you put down your divisions. That you come out of your isolation, that you move out of your comfort zones. That you push yourselves to be better. And that you engage. Barack will never allow you to go back to your lives as usual, uninvolved, uninformed.

See Dubya got a call from his dad back in the heartland about Barack’s speech the other night.

And as soon as it was over a family friend, a cattleman of some means and again, a calm demeanor, had called him to ask “Did you see that?”

With all that’s goin’ on, bloggin’ is light lately — especially since I’ve found that the RSS and Atom feeds for ‘Okie’ don’t work — I’m creating a whole new theme (it looks pretty much the same) and will be upgrading to the latest/greatest WordPress as soon as that’s finished. Feeds aplenty after that. So until then, or whatever, let’s take a quick tour through a few sites that I like to read.

First, The Anchoress makes the case that if discontented Conservatives don’t vote in November, or vote for Hillary or Obama, what they are really doing is voting for at least four years of a Hillary Clinton style government. There’s a fright aplenty for ya!

See Dubya at JYB find subversive scribbling over at the New York Times — & likes it!

Dafydd at Big Lizards believes that the MSM are dropping all pretense of being “objective” in their news reporting after noting that the AP’s coverage of the Supreme Court’s decision to not hear the ACLU’s appeal of the Six Circuit’s throwing out the case against the Federal government over the Terrorist Surveillance Program’s wiretaps. They that three thimes!

And finally, be sure and check out Zombietime’s pics and coverage of the 2/12 protests over the Marine Corp recruitment office in Berkeley, CA.

These photos were taken in Berkeley on February 12, 2008 at Civic Center Park and in front of the City Hall building, at the protest and counter-protest over the decision by the Berkeley City Council to support Code Pink’s attempt to expel the Marine Corps recruiting office from Berkeley.
{…}
Of all the sights and sounds at the protest, none were more shocking (even to me) than the insulting and menacing attitudes the students displayed to any adult whom they suspected of not being sufficiently left-wing. Girls as young as 14 would surround pro-America adults and would launch into spontaneous verbal assaults, exhibiting the most disrespectful behavior imaginable. Here, a little girl in a kaffiyeh lashed out at a bewildered senior lady, calling her a “bitch” and “murderer” for supporting the Marines.

You can see some video of high school and Berkeley college students disrespecting older protesters — disrespecting is an understatement!

The children were giddy with power. It strongly reminded me of what happened during the Cultural Revolution in 1960s China, when high school students harassed and humiliated their teachers and other local authority figures — all with the approval of the Commmunist Party officials, who were consciously trying to overthrow the old social order. And considering that these kids at the Berkeley rally were coached and trained by World Can’t Wait, which is a Maoist revolutionary group, I suppose their behavior shouldn’t have surprised me. Most of the kids there, contrary to what you might imagine, were middle class, the children of professors and intellectuals, and after the protest undoubtedly went home to their comfortable houses with Mom and Dad, who most likely nodded with pride at tales of the day’s radical exploits.

<embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/4ssTOGTHbTY&rel=1&border=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent"width="425" height="355">

It was dicey to be a member of the San Francisco State College Republicans — thank goodness for the Berkeley Police who show a great deal of restraint!

That should keep you busy for at least a bit . . .
