Dems Play Race Card on Debt Negotiations

The Obama Buck Stops Here

Now it becomes apparent that the Democrats truly are getting desperate! From The Hill:

Jackson Lee [D-TX] said Obama has been targeted unlike any other president.

“I am particularly sensitive to the fact that only this president — only this one, only this one — has received the kind of attacks and disagreement and inability to work, only this one,” said Jackson Lee from the House floor.

“Read between the lines,” she continued. “What is different about this president that should put him in a position that he should not receive the same kind of respectful treatment of when it is necessary to raise the debt limit in order to pay our bills, something required by both statute and the 14th amendment?”

Every which way the winds blowsWell for starters, it’s been rare to have a President as petulant as this one. This guys reminds me of a Carter/Nixon combo — not a great mix! Doesn’t earn a great deal of respect to walk away from the talks like he did the other night.

At Bloomberg, it’s being reported that even if the debt ceiling is raised, there’s a 50/50 chance that our top credit rating will be lost. It’s not so much how much more we can borrow, it’s how the bloody hell we’re going to pay it all back!

POTUS, armed with ever more elevated hyperbole warms the nation of economic Armageddon if his plan isn’t enacted . . . now, what was that Obama plan exactly? Guess we’ll have to agree to it and pass it to find out what it is. Dems, gotta LUV ‘em!

Unemployment Rate At 9.2 Percent!

Friday, July 8th, 2011

Things sure ain’t gettin’ much better with all that stimulus money “we’ve” spent!

U.S. employment growth ground to a halt in June, with employers hiring the fewest number of workers in nine months, dousing hopes the economy would regain momentum in the second half of the year.

Nonfarm payrolls rose only 18,000, the weakest reading since September, the Labor Department said on Friday, well below economists’ expectations for a 90,000 rise.

The unemployment rate climbed to a six-month high of 9.2 percent, even as jobseekers left the labor force in droves, from 9.1 percent in May.

“The message on the economy is ongoing stagnation,” said Pierre Ellis, senior economist at Decision economics in New York. “Income growth is marginal so there’s no indication of momentum.

The government revised April and May payrolls to show 44,000 fewer jobs created than previously reported.

Gee, wonder if the White House is concerned? Guess not . . .

“The average American does not view the economy through the prism of GDP or unemployment rates or even monthly jobs numbers,” Plouffe said, according to Bloomberg. “People won’t vote based on the unemployment rate, they’re going to vote based on: ‘How do I feel about my own situation? Do I believe the president makes decisions based on me and my family?’ ”

I think that the average American has awakened politically and is very concerned with the continuing levels of unemployment, and under-employment, which is also up. More and more are running out of unemployment income payments, having hit the 99 week threshold and are now scrambling for any kind of paying work — which is increasingly hard to find.

Of course, President Obama’s got our backs, right? Well, he should . . . but it looks like there are a few other things on his mind that are a lot more pressing — like getting reelected.

Nearly 90 percent of President Obama’s domestic travel in the first six months of this year has been either partially or entirely political, and almost all the costs are borne by taxpayers, according to a White House Dossier Analysis.

Since returning from vacation in Hawaii Jan. 4, Obama has embarked on 25 domestic trips involving use of Air Force One. Of the total, 22 have involved either a fundraiser, travel to a presidential battleground state, or both.

Only three times has the president traveled for purely non-political purposes: a trip to visit flooding victims in Tennessee; a visit to New York City to meet with 9/11 families and lay a wreath; and a trip to Albany, New York to speak about the economy.

And to think, we taxpayers get to pay for all that political travel! Just some more of that “Hope and Change” we were promised, oh, ya betcha!
