Obama’s Indecision On Display? Hmmmm . . .

Wednesday, October 7th, 2009

According to the NYT, the painting “I think I’ll . . .” by California artist Ed Rusch hangs in the Obama White House.

Hmmmm . . . oblivious, or enlightening?

I ask, you decide.

The American Value System As Explained by Dennis Prager

Wednesday, October 7th, 2009

Radio talk-show host and conservative columnist Dennis Prager has a series of 5-minute lectures that he calls Prager University.

I recommend starting with The American Trinity, in which he explains that “E Pluribus Unum”, “In God We Trust” and “Liberty”, all three found on our coinage, are the foundations that make for American Exceptionalism.

“E Pluribus Unum” — Out of many, one.

“In God We Trust” — Our national value system comes from a “Creator”, not from mankind.

“Liberty” — In the U.S., we are all born equal, but after that we have the freedom to become whatever our talent, work ethic and luck allows.

As opposed to the European value system, which holds that ALL must be equal throughout their lives. Values remember, not realities — at least not for the ruling classes in the EU.

Plus, lectures on men/women issues, human nature, happiness as a moral obligation and on the belief in God — Well worth yours and my time.

Thanks, Dennis!

The Hockey Stick Graph Is Dead — A Wrap Up Extraordinaire

Monday, October 5th, 2009

A week ago today I wrote about the death of the Hockey Stick graph, you know, that lyin’ chart loved by Global Warming Alarmists all over the globe as the unequivocal proof that all us mankind is killin’ Gaea with our nasty ol’ CO2 emissions. Uh, the so-called scientific consensus it turns out is based on manipulated-cherry-picked data sets which resulted in the infamous chart — a deliberate attempt to scare the livin’ bejeezuz out o’ the great unwashed.

If you want to read an even better autopsy of the HS graph then head on over to The American Thinker and check out Marc Sheppard‘s post, UN Climate Reports: They Lie.

With the Senate getting ready to attack Cap & Trade TAX again just as soon as they finish screwing up health care, we need all the background info we can get!

Don’t Say There Isn’t Another Health Care Plan

Monday, October 5th, 2009

Dr.s DONALD J. PALMISANO, WILLIAM G. PLESTED II AND DANIEL H. JOHNSON JR. (all former presidents of the American Medical Association) have a piece in the Wall Street Journal Opinion section today. Here’s a taste:

We aren’t among the doctors invited to a Rose Garden event today to “join the President in pushing for health insurance reform this year and [who] have offered their help and support,” as a White House press release put it. It’s unfortunate only supporters of the president’s plans will be there. Mr. Obama has missed an opportunity to learn more about the real issues facing patients and doctors and to formulate a plan that truly puts patients in control with doctors as trusted advisers.

The United States has the best health care in the world today, and thanks to the ever-expanding frontiers of science and medical innovation the brightest days are ahead. It is true that there are Americans who fall through the cracks of our medical system every day—and as a caring nation, we must do what we can to expand access to medical care to those who need it. But this can be accomplished without a costly and inefficient government overhaul of the entire system. One easy reform would be to enable individuals to buy policies offered in any state, not just where they live. This will enhance competition. But more government-run health insurance will only lead to disaster.

{…}

If the goal of reform is to provide the best possible patient care, let’s take the government-controlled “public option”—and any legislative trick that could lead to a public option—off the table. It will result in long waiting lines to see a doctor, substandard care, and an end to medical discovery.

As the saying goes . . . read it all!

And, the next time you hear the President or any of the Dem wits in Congress say that no one else has a plan for healthcare reform, read it all, again.

Yeah, the Liberals have a plan — a plan to turn the best health care system in the world into a socialists’ backwater where all have access to little — except for their exalted selves, natch.
