‘Okie’ Is Now Clean, Upgraded & Good To Go!

This blog and another one that I manage was hacked over the weekend by a pernicious hacker’s bot that took advantage of a WordPress vulnerability that allowed a typical user registration to take over a bit of the admin function and change the pemalinks structure. What this did was tell all of the blogs internal links to posts, comments, etc. to actually link to some web page out in the ‘net that probably was loaded with nasty code — trojans, keyloggers, spammer bots, etc.
YIPES!!!
Fortunately, we were also running the Bad Behavior plugin that prevented those links from doing anything but delivering ’server not found’ errors — you couldn’t go anywhere in here but at least you didn’t go where the malicious effers wanted you to . . .
This vulnerability affects ALL WordPress versions EXCEPT for the very latest, 2.8.4 — a least they say this latest version is ’safe’. Lots o’ busy WP webmasters scramblin’ around the Blogoshpere . . . Oh, ya betcha!
BTW — had to lose that last post on the D.C. Tea Parties as it was full of corrupt code in the database. Used an axe instead of a scalpel but hey, sometimes you don’t have time to do anything but swing big and CUT! Anyway, Michelle Malkin has it covered much better here: Yes, the picture is real, nutroots — ya just gotta see those pics! Folks goin’ on for days!!! Yeah!
