Lamont --

As has been mentioned in many a blog post on this issue, the DHS report on left-wing radicalism mentioned actual groups and organizations that appear to be . . . pretty darned radical -- some down right violent. Here's Ed Morrissey's take on it over at HotAir:

This is the report heralded by counter-critics of the DHS report on “right-wing extremism” that supposedly disproves political bias in the substance-free attack on conservative critics. Except that the report on extremism of the Left is much different than the other DHS report, starting with specifics. While the DHS report focusing on the Right expansively and generally indicted groups opposing abortion, illegal immigration, and federalism, this report instead focuses on actual and specific extremist groups — groups who have a long history of domestic terrorism and violence (page 9):

{...}

The differences between these two reports could not be more vast. In one, DHS downplays the potential for violence from proven and existing violent groups. In the other, DHS presumes violence from a wide range of mainstream political points of view without any evidence of a threat, any specific groups, and impugns millions of veterans as potential terrorists. The people behind both of these reports should be fired, and Janet Napolitano should resign as DHS Secretary.

This new report paints with the widest brush one can imagine. In fact, the "analysis" comes out that anyone that doesn't "agree" with the current administration must be a right-wing radical and a threat.

That's just plain stupid. Let's see, what did Mama Gump say about "stupid"?

Yeah -- thought so.

I'm shocked and amazed that a similar outcry failed to erupt from these same freedom-loving precincts when the report on left-wing radicalism was released by DHS in January of this year. I mean, if it's bad for the government to spy on citizens and chill any tendency toward dissent, that means any citizens, doesn't it? As the great philosopher Edward J. Hyslop so often says: "Correct me or correct me not". Some unfair types might think that this outcry, in the absence of a mirrored concern a few months back, is just the teeniest bit self-serving. Please, don't break my heart, tell me it's about the higher ideal of liberty and it's not just all about your own petty, paranoid concerns?

A quarter-century of bait-and-switch by the Red Team has served The Republic poorly and brought us to a place where too many of us have tried too long to hold too many conflicting ideas to the point where what critical thinking skills they might once have possessed have collapsed entirely.

For some reason, I'm also reminded of the words of my pal Stinky:
Good gravy
It's Potato Davy
He's pumpin' gas on 3rd & Main
I wonder what he did to his brain

Thank you for your kind indulgence,
Lamont B. Dumont

All of the lies you've heard about me are true.
