Pres. ObamaWell, last night ol’ Pres Barry ‘O’ got up and gave his first speech to the assembled federal guvm’t, ya know, the Congress, Joint Chiefs, SCOTUS, et all — plus a full gallery of slobbering sycophants and “special” camera-op folks. It was quite a show, I’ll grant him that. Is there anyone better on a teleprompter? Well, maybe ol’ Slick Willie himself, but that’s really another era now. Nanny Nancy couldn’t contain her GLEE, grinnin’ like the village idiot throughout, and jumpin’ up like a maggot on a hot rock, just a clappin’ and a clappin’ at almost anything the Chosen One chose to utter.

About all that utterin’ — gee, is this guy gonna spend a lot of moolah, or what? Laer Pierce at Cheat-Seeking Missiles has the shopping list and it’s a doozy!

All the regular Democrat wet dreams are there — universal health care, more $$$ to “education”, whatever that means (most likely ever more $$$ to the teachers’ union for the same lousy performances by public school teachers!), more bailouts for deadbeat mortgage holders, (you guys that continue to struggle and actually ‘pay’ for your homes are SOL in Obamaland!), more auto company bailouts, (as long as they build cars you don’t really want with labor they can’t really afford!), more public spending on “renewable” energy, (you know, all that really expensive stuff that will require a lot of currently non-existent technologies and higher taxes on current energy supplies to make them more expensive so that all this ‘new’ stuff is ‘competitive’), and so on and so on!

As the numbers started adding up my head was spinnin’ faster than Linda Blair’s! The green this Obama administration will be spewin’ sure ain’t gonna be pea soup, neither — devalued greenbacks most likely.

Lot’s of feedback on Bobby Jindal’s rebuttal, which I didn’t see — most of it not great. If we’ve learned anything from the last election cycle it’s that image, and the ability to communicate, or at least make the “people” think you’re actually saying something, especially something they can relate to or believe they want to hear, is paramount to winning an election. If the GOP doesn’t comprehend this fact and take it to heart in a big way, we’re in for future disappointment after disappointment. I hope it doesn’t take a couple more election cycles for this to sink in.

Ace says that Jindal was much better today, on Today:

Give the man his props. Much better today.

As I remarked in the comments, his problem was that he had been poorly coached. “Be upbeat,” they told him. “Be Reagan-like. Be warm, and folksy, and really connect with the common man.”

Some people have a gift with this; others don’t. Jindal is an uncommon man. He is uncommonly intelligent, educated, and accomplished. While others may easily pull off the common touch — as Reagan did — others seem fake and condescending when attempting to channel their inner Bubba.

Crap — haven’t had time to watch that one, either. Did watch Obama today, announcing round after new round of regulations to be targeted at Wall Street. That ought to make them investors feel all real warm and fuzzy.

Look for new rounds of sell offs. The Dow was down again today. As the pundits say, every time ol’ Barry ‘O’ opens his pie hole, Wall Street tanks!

Cheers!
