Okie Opens The 57th Page Today! He’s Not Alone . . .
Yep — 57 years ago today a childless couple from Tulsa, Oklahoma trucked down to a local clinic and snarfed themselves a bouncing 5-pound baby boy. Well, after much legal work and advance planning they “adopted” a newborn that wasn’t wanted, or couldn’t be taken care of, by his birth mother. The infant, yours truly, was only one hour old when his adopted mother finally got to hold what she had been trying to have for over 5 years — her own baby.
I’ve been so blessed! First, that my birth mother didn’t abort me, although in 1952 that would have been a act full of peril, unlike today, where if you don’t want to surgically remove your “little problem” you can take a pill — which good little Liberals like Newsweek’s Anna Quindlen love to champion. But hey, I’m here and am proud to be a poster boy for adoption and a ranter against abortion.
Second, that my adopted parents and later my adopted sister were great folks. I truly could not have been cast a better lot in life.
It don’t get much better than this! Oh ya betcha!
BTW — someone else is having a birthday today. Sarah Palin turns 45. Way to go Governor!
Now — on to the big 6, 0 in three short ones. Yikes! Where does the time go?
