President-elect Obama: WMD Attacks vs Global Warming — What Gets The Focus?

I hope all those folks coming into the new Obama administration that are congregants in the Church of the Holy Order of Anthropogenic Climate Change can pull themselves away from their catechism of Global Warming to pay a little attention to the ever increasing threat of a nuclear or biological strike on an American city. WaPo soulnds the alarm:

The odds that terrorists will soon strike a major city with weapons of mass destruction are now better than even, a bipartisan congressionally mandated task force concludes in a draft study that warns of growing threats from rogue states, nuclear smuggling networks and the spread of atomic know-how in the developing world.

The sobering assessment of such threats, due for release as early as today, singled out Pakistan as a grave concern because of its terrorist networks, history of instability and arsenal of several dozen nuclear warheads. The report urged the incoming Obama administration to take “decisive action” to reduce the likelihood of a devastating attack.

“No mission could be timelier,” says the draft report of the Commission on the Prevention of Weapons of Mass Destruction Proliferation and Terrorism, which spent six months preparing an assessment for Congress and the new president-elect. It adds: “In our judgment, America’s margin of safety is shrinking, not growing.”

Specifically, I hope that the Obamaites tell the Europeans to stick their International Court for the Environment up their darkest orfice, but alas, they’ll probably join in that folly. Global Warming fun & games are going on in Poznan, Poland too. Climate change is being blamed for longer, stronger allergy seasons.

One encouraging sign is that James L. Jones, Obama’s pick for National Security Adviser, is a Global Warming denier.

When President-elect Barack Obama introduced James L. Jones Jr. as his national security advisor Monday, he emphasized the retired Marine general’s understanding of “the connection between energy and national security.”

Obama sees that as a plus, but some environmental groups and global warming activists view Jones’ environmental record with suspicion.

Jones will not be responsible for environmental policy, but he has said energy is a vital national security issue. It affects domestic economic stability and international geopolitical relationships, particularly in the oil-rich Middle East.

Jones sits on the board of Chevron Corp., and since March 2007 has been president and chief executive of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Institute for 21st Century Energy, which has been criticized by environmental groups

Interesting — Guess we’ll just have to wait and see . . .

It seems to finally be time for this old chemist to obtain gas masks for myself and my wife. There is good reason that every Israeli citizen is issued one.

To many in this country, global warming is more of a threat than terrorism. While the poles haven’t melted and the seas haven’t flooded cities, we have experienced terror events in this nation. I wish all of this global warming nonsense would go away so we could focus on defending our country.
