I Am Joe — I Am Joe the Plumber

I AM JOE

As I was walking our newish dog the other day I kept saying to myself, “I am Joe the Plumber”. I don’t make 250 large a year either, but I certainly aspire to. What I do make the government sure does take a big bite out of — federal income tax, FICA, CA state income tax, 8-1/4% sales tax here in LA county and going up! Our state can’t balance a budget — the Dems that control everything won’t do anything but spend more — the idiots that vote out here on initiatives keep approving bond issues and limits on what the state can do with tax revenues, so the wiggle room that might help run the place just isn’t there. Crazy!

But, back to Joe ‘the Plumber’ Wurzelbacher, who was minding his own business one recent day and had the fortune of the Obama campaign coming to his neighborhood, for him to get to ask the Obamessiah himself a simple question — Will your tax plan raise my taxes? To which, in an unguarded moment of truth, Obama announced his intention to implement a “redistribution of wealth” plan for the entire country. Wow! That really worked out well in Russia, Cuba and No. Korea, huh? Maybe ol’ Barry thinks that he knows something that Karl, Fidel or Kim Jung Ill didn’t, doesn’t? Maybe ol’ Barry has just read too much Saul Alinsky, hung out a bit too much with the likes of Bill Ayers and Jeremiah Wright. What we do know is that we know lots of Joe the Plumbers and Barry ‘O’ sure ain’t Joe the Plumber!

Iowahawk, usually a source of coffee-though-the-nose spewing humor takes a serious note today, and links to the source for the above graphic.

We’ve all witnessed a lot of insanity in American politics over the last few years. Up until the last few days, none of it has seriously bothered me; hey, just more grist for the satire mill. But after witnessing the media’s blitzkreig on Joe ‘the Plumber’ Wurzelbacher, I can only muster anger, and no small amount of fear.

Politicians — Sarah Palin, Bill Clinton, et al. — obviously have to put up with some rude, nasty shit, but it’s right there in the jobs description. Joe the Plumber is different. He was a guy tossing a football with his kid in the front yard of his $125,000 house when a politician picked him out as a prop for a 30 second newsbite for the cable news cameras. Joe simply had the temerity to speak truth (or, if you prefer, an uninformed opinion) to power, for which the politico-media axis apparently determined that he must be humiliated, harassed, smashed, destroyed. The viciousness and glee with which they set about the task ought to concern anyone who still cares about citizen participation, and freedom of speech, and all that old crap they taught in Civics class before politics turned into Narrative Deathrace 3000, and Web 2.0 turned into Berlin 1932.0.

Godwin’s Law! you say? if the jackboot fits, wear it.

He then challenges all of us that relate to Joe the Plumber to get out this message. That there are lots of us, and that we don’t like what the Liberal Blogosphere and the MSM is trying to do to the guy — simply for asking a question that Barack Obama answered poorly; poorly for his campaign that is, but great for us as we caught a brief glimpse of the real Barack and his disbelief in the American Dream.

As Mark Steyn lays it out:

The heart of the American Dream is aspiration. That’s why people came here from all over the world. Back in eastern Europe, the Joe Bidens and Diane Sawyers of the day were telling Joe the Peasant: “Hey, look, man. You’re a peasant in the 19th century, just like your forebears were peasants in the 12th century and your descendants will be peasants in the 26th century. So you’re never gonna be earning 250 groats a year. Don’t worry about it. Leave it to us. We know better.” And Joe the Peasant eventually figured that one day he’d like to be able to afford the Premium Gruel with just a hint of arugula and got on the boat to Ellis Island. Because America is the land where a guy who doesn’t have a 250-grand business today might just have one in five or ten years’ time.

I’m with Joe the Plumber, not Joe the Hair-Plugger. He’s articulated the animating principles of America better than anyone on either side in this campaign. Which is why the O-Bots need to destroy him.

Michelle Malkin reacts to all the Joe the Plumber Derangement.

Why is the MSM savaging Joe the Plumber and ignoring Liberal rage and obstructionist tactics at McCain/Palin rallies? In the tank for the Big ‘O’.

Totally. In. The. Tank. For. Obama.

Sadly, "Joe the Plumbers" all over America would be forced by increased taxes to raise the prices of their goods and services in an Obama regime. This would result in the earners of less than the 250K/Yr. Obama "rich person" mark paying for the Obama tax increases. "Spreading the wealth" is pure socialism. Democrats just aren't very smart, are they?

I'm not having any of the real commodity that Obama is spreading. There is already plenty available for free in the pastures of Oklahoma.

I've had a "I am Joe the Plumber too!!!" sign on my front yard for the last four days- I wish it would go as viral as it should/could.

Dem Cong? Think of it this way-
this election is basically a choice between John Mc Cain's vision of what America is and who Americans are and Jane Fonda's-

wish that would go as viral as it could/should too-
  • Todd Palin warned on Friday that if Democrats control the Senate and House as well as the Executive Branch, not only will Obama’s foreign Policy be implemented without opposition, but his domestic policies as well, including his economic and health care plans.

This is a very important election. Each one of us needs to help get out the vote.
