McCain/Obama Debates — Part Three

As usual, I’m late to this discuss-the-debate party, but here goes. First things first: Who won?

Well, I’d call it a tie, and I’m not happy about doing so. I sincerely wanted McCain to hit one out of the park; at least he didn’t tank like our Dodgers did, losing the National League Pennant 4 to 1 in last night’s debacle. More about baseball and the election later.

In an opinion piece posing as news — totally characteristic of the Los Angeles Times — for the first time in a long time have a headline that speaks truth: McCain doesn’t seal the deal, which they’ve changed for the online edition to McCain deals no lethal blows in final debate with Obama. What they wish they could have written was that Obama finally put it away last night, but that was so evidently not the truth that even the LA Times wouldn’t go that far, and that’s really saying something there because there’s not much that this rag isn’t prepared to do toward getting ol’ Barry in the White House. Here’s a little taste of the fair and balanced, NOT reporting we get out here in LA:

There was no single moment that was likely to reverberate in the minds of American voters and change the course of an election that has moved dramatically toward Obama [Really? With the polls actually closing in the last couple of days?] in the last several weeks. But the 90-minute debate was a perfect distillation of McCain’s general election campaign, with all of its inconsistent messages [Can't argue with that].

He spoke passionately about education and free trade and put Obama on the policy defensive more than in previous debates, but he also spent precious minutes bickering over a domestic radical [Uh, the word is TERRORIST folks -- a radical talks, a terrorist bombs] from the 1960s. He spoke of his desire to reach peaceably across the aisle, while at times exuding what seemed a barely controlled anger, his jaw clenched as he appeared to show disdain for his opponent. [No mention of the smug poop-eating grin on Obama's face more that a few times, eh?]

Yeah, that’s about all we get for news out here in La La Land. But, enough of that; back to the debate. No, John McCain didn’t seal the deal last night, but neither did Barack Obama. And it wasn’t like McCain didn’t inadvertently give him many opportunities to do so. Especially regarding the exchange about the unrepentant domestic terrorist turned college professor, Bill Ayers, McCain let Obama slip and slide his way out of finally having to acknowledge their long-time close association. McCain hit the ball, but it went foul. McCain swung on a pitch about ACORN and on Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac and didn’t connect well enough either. He should have had solid hits with both of those.

What he did hit for a double or a triple was the Joe the plumber arguments, where it was made very clear to all that actually listen to what’s being said that Obama is just another tax & spend Liberal whose intent is to be proactive in spreading the wealth around — that is, he’s gonna take from those of us that work, that own businesses and employ others, and give it to those that don’t. Ain’t that right, comrade Obama?

McCain was also strong in presenting Obama’s record on abortion support to anyone who didn’t already know — which is most folks as the MSM sure isn’t covering this and it’s the first time it’s come up in the debates. In the Illinois Senate, Obama voted NO or PRESENT on the Born Alive Protection Act which would compel abortionists to get immediate medical care for any infant that survived an abortion attempt and was actually born alive. Barack said that he didn’t support those bills because they would have undermined Roe v. Wade. McCain made it clear that he was not in agreement with the Supreme Court on R v. W, but wouldn’t use that as a litmus test for SCOTUS nominees. Ol’ Barry seems to have a lot of litmus tests in mind, hmmm. Obama also supports partial birth abortion. That pretty much says it all.

There was one absolute lie that Barack Obama told; that someone at a Sarah Palin rally had shouted out “Kill him” referring to Obama. Even the Secret Service can’t authenticate that one and Barack knew that as that story came out before the debate. More race-baiting from the Obama campaign, this time from Barack himself. I wish that McCain had brought up that reality — another unforced error on his part.

Enough base ball analogies, and enough about the debate. Since no one came out as a clear winner the polls will continue to stagnate. Lot’s of work to do. There are 200,000 new voter registration discrepancies in Ohio! Voter fraud may end up being the biggest story of this election cycle — look for a SCOTUS redo of 2000? God, let’s hope not, but I’d bet real money that the Obama crew has the lawyers all lined up and ready to go.

Oh yeah, one more baseball item. Obama ad buy may change World Series start time…

Look up hubris in the dictionary — you should find a big picture of Barack Obama.

You won’t, but you should . . .
