If “WE” Need Him — Barack May Come, To Washington That Is — But, Only “If”
With the President’s financial bailout plan floundering in Congress and President Bush to address the nation this eve., John McCain decided to suspend his Presidential campaign beginning sometime tomorrow to go back to his day job as a senior Senator of the United States to help broker a bi-partisan solution to this money mess before our economy collapses out of sheer panic. At the same time, Barack Obama, also a Senator and whom McCain asked to join him in this effort, took several hours to poll his advisers think about it, and decided, Nah — it’s politics as usual saying in so many words, if they need me I may come. WT?
Hugh Hewitt rakes the Obamessiah over the coals:
Obama’s “if they need me I may come” responses are simply incredible, as is his insistence that a debate move forward before any legislation is agreed to. The contrast between McCain as a leader and Obama as a schemer has never been more clear than today, and it will be incredible if a majority of Americans forget this sharp contrast over the next six weeks.
John McCain is absolutely right to focus on the legislation and to suspend his campaign until that solution emerges. Mccain will never be accused of fiddling while the markets burned, while Obama now owns the consequences of putting his political ambitions ahead of the country’s interests.
I guess Obama’s reaction to a terrorist attack would have been to hold another fund-raiser?
Perhaps Obama just doesn’t understand the significance of what is going on? [Emph. mine]
As the McCain ads say, “Barack Obama — Not ready to lead.”
Shoot, he can’t even get out of the way!
