Why Liberals Hate Sarah Palin So Very, Very Much — It’s That “Growin’ Up Thang” . . .
Hard-Left Liberals HATE Sarah Palin. It’s such a palpable thing that it even has a name, Palin Derangement Syndrome, and PDS is now bordering on overshadowing their omnipresent BDS (Bush Derangement Syndrome). Michelle Malkin posts on it often and has a new segment about it today, once again pertaining to US Weekly, where the nutters are now going after the Governor for installing a tanning bed in the Governor’s mansion in Alaska. Failing to note that she bought one used with her own personal money, they try to make it out to be as egregious as the John Edwards $1,200 haircuts, or perhaps ol’ Silky’s diverting of thousands of dollars of campaign contributions to his mistress and probable mother of his love child.
But, tanning beds aside, what has really driven the Left off the cliff over Sarah Palin is her stand against abortion. Being a good Leftist means never meeting a pregnant mother that doesn’t have the God-given Roe-v-Wade given right to kill her unborn child. Topping that off, they really can’t begin to understand how someone, knowing about it in advance, could ever choose to have a special needs child. Over at Slog, [h/t: Moonbattery], Charles Mudede writes the following regarding Sarah Palin’s decision to continue her 5th pregnancy even though the Palin’s knew that it would be a Down’s baby:
Palin had her reason for not aborting, and this reasoning needs to be examined.
When tests made it clear that Palin’s pregnancy, which happened around the age of 43, had chromosomal abnormalities, she did not do the rational and even humane thing: return to nothing that which was still a no-thing. Why? Because of a religious belief. She holds the unverifiable belief that God is against abortions. How she came to this conclusion is for now not worth considering. Let’s instead consider this: The life expectancy of women only increased (and surpassed that of men) when science (not God) significantly reduced the dangers of pregnancy. Without science, women were lucky to see life beyond their mid 30s; with science, they can reasonably bank on seeing life in their 80s. Women (and this is women in developed countries) can also have children at a relatively late age. For example, the women in the above image, Salma Hayek, had a healthy baby in her early 40s. It’s now normal for this sort of thing to happen. But it’s only normal because of science.
{…}
This makes no sense. Even if He exists, God has nothing to do with why Palin is having a baby at 43.
Van Helsing at Moonbattery responds:
What a stunted concept of God moonbats must have, to think anything could exist that “God has nothing to do with.”
But letting her son live didn’t necessarily have anything to do with Palin’s faith. Religion doesn’t have a monopoly on mercy or morality.
His described moonbats, ie Progressives or Hard-Left-Liberals, view life through a secular kaleidoscope. There are so many gray areas, and instances of nuance, that any form of concrete belief system is impossible, except for the belief that anything goes. Anything, that is, except for belief in God, except for belief in the sanctity of human life, (the sanctity of animal life is sacrosanct to them!), except for belief in a value system higher than their own personal morality, or lack thereof.
This is why these folks HATE Sarah Palin and all that she stands for and represents. She’s that value system that they reject. She’s the finger-wagging conscience that they constantly ignore. She’s their mother they either hated or never had — and never did or don’t now want.
They hate Sarah Palin because she shows them what it means to be an adult, when all they want is to forever remain as children. In Sarah Palin, all the Peter Pans have finally met their match — and they’re terrified that Never Land will be made to fade away forever.
