Large Hadron Rap — The Collider’s Intent Explained — Yeow!

23-year-old Kate McAlpine, who works in the Press office at the CERN laboratory in Switzerland where the 17-mile long Large Hadron Collider created by Dr. Lyn Evans will be activated this Wednesday, created the rap video you see above. It’s clever, it’s cute, the CERN scientists say it’s science is spot on. Some are predicting that this machine will initiate the total destruction of the planet. I’m almost finished reading Blasphemy by Douglas Preston that takes a look at exactly that scenario.

All in great fun! Dude — cross your fingers . . . ;-)

Geek rap, what next? Having a bit of conspiracy theory in my soul, I read about a great many things, most too stupid to mention. One school of thought is that all of the black holes in space are due to former alien civilizations getting to the point that they created their own huge particle accelerators…….

I think we’ll be just fine though. The same doomsday worries were heard when they fired the first atomic bomb in New Mexico. Of course, not many knew about that device even existing. Humans flatter themselves when they think they are greater than nature.
