Lordy, is this campaign gonna get funner and funner or what? On a CNN talk show last night good ol’ Barack Obama was asked to compare his experience in dealing with disasters while in the Senate to Sarah Palin’s experience during her terms as Mayor and Governor in Alaska. I listened to his hemmin’ and hawin’ on the radio — here is part of the text:

“My understanding is that Gov. Palin’s town, Wassilla, has I think 50 employees. We’ve got 2500 in this campaign. I think their budget is maybe 12 million dollars a year – we have a budget of about three times that just for the month,”

Notice how he doesn’t reference her being Governor of Alaska? If you heard him, he said Wassilly (sounds like silly) not Wassilla. Bet that cost him a few moose-stew-eatin’ voters. (He’d say, “Ask me if I care.”)

And consider this, candidates hire folks to manage their campaigns, and all of the focus if on a single person, the candidate. It’s a narcissist’s wet dream. A Mayor, and especially a Governor, requires working with legislators, bureaucracies and individual John Q. Publics — No Senator has to do that!

Amazing, next thing will be for Barack to challenge her to a peeing contest.

All this caterwauling on Obama’s part just showcases his own, pathetic lack of executive experience, which is exactly zero! Fred will have more to say on all this in his speech tonight. From the Weekly Standard blog:

Thompson Speech Hits Media on Palin, Obama on Abortion

Fred Thompson will forcefully defend the selection of Sarah Palin tonight in a speech Republicans are characterizing as “red meat.” He will argue that the feeding frenzy over Palin’s is the result of “panic” from the Democrat-friendly mainstream media.

“What a breath of fresh air Governor Sarah Palin is. She is from a small town, with small town values, but that’s not good enough for those folks who are attacking her and her family. Let’s be clear, the selection of Governor Palin has the other side and their friends in the media in a state of panic. She is a courageous, successful, reformer, who is not afraid to take on the establishment.”

Go get ‘em, Fred! Hang tough, Sarah — you get your shot at these yahoos tomorrow night. (And I hear that she’s a very good shot!)

I have never seen anything like this in 40 years of watching politics. The hatred being spewed for Palin is like the combined hate for Hillary, Bill and Dubya. Except all of those hates took time to build. Sarah Palin has been on the national scene for about 125 hours. HOURS. It seems unnatural to me, and intellectually dishonest.
