Enviromentalism: The Next Secular Religion

This blog has often made the assertion that the Global Warming Fanatics and Climate Change Alarmists have turned their passions for the Environment into a not-so-subtle religious movement, albeit a “secular” one. As Jeffry Goldberg outlines in his most recent book, Liberal Fascism: The Secret History of the American Left, From Mussolini to the Politics of Meaning, removing God-based religion from society and replacing it with a religion of the state has been a oft-used tactic of the “Progressives” since the French Revolution and is paramount within the Progressive supported causes of today. That’s why those of us that aren’t buying the whole Anthropogenic Climate Change catechism are labeled as heretics. One such noted heretic is Czech President Vaclav Klaus, a Man-caused-Climate-Change-denier who has challenged the High Priest of Climate Change, ol’ Big Al Gore, to a debate. Man that he is, Gore says — Nope, Nada, ain’t gonna happen. He’s a Nobel Prize winner, don’tcha know? Earth Times reports about Klaus’ views that the Environmentalists will use draconian tactics, much like the Communists of the Soviet Union, and for the same reasons:

Klaus, an economist, said he opposed the “climate alarmism” perpetuated by environmentalism trying to impose their ideals, comparing it to the decades of communist rule he experienced growing up in Soviet-dominated Czechoslovakia.

“Like their (communist) predecessors, they will be certain that they have the right to sacrifice man and his freedom to make their idea reality,” he said.

“In the past, it was in the name of the Marxists or of the proletariat – this time, in the name of the planet,” he added.

“[I]n the name of the planet” — I know that you’ve heard this one before. Me? I think I’ll celebrate ‘Carbon Belch Day’ on June 12th.

Conservative grassroots group Grassfire.org wants people to waste as much energy as possible on June 12 by “hosting a barbecue, going for a drive, watching television, leaving a few lights on, or even smoking a few cigars.”

The point: the group wants to “help Americans break free from the ‘carbon footprint guilt’ being imposed by Climate Alarmists.”

I’ll puff on a Cohiba, watch a ballgame and throw a 24-oz rib eye on the barbie for ya!

    Excellent. On June 12th I’ll do everything to excess and belch out some extra CO2 for my pal Al Gore and his ilk.
    With catalytic converters on modern vehicles, most of the former product of incomplete combustion, carbon monoxide, is instantly converted to carbon dioxide. It used to take months for the CO to oxidize to CO2. Ain’t modern science great? Along with the MTBE air pollution “cure” which has contaminated our water supplies don’t you want climate scientists to tinker with your weather? Not I.

    I did hear some good news last week. The liberal warmie/greenie clowns who are driving hybrid cars to save energy and the environment get to pay a $4,700 dealer bill to replace their battery when it fails. HA. Now I need to invent a microwave battery cell disrupter to destroy their batteries internally whenever I choose to mete out punishment to a liberal tree hugging environmental whacko. Just kidding……?
