Laer -- We had a similar discussion over the Buick Enclave and the slight sheen to the dash cover plastic that you don't see on the high-end Germans. It's all a matter of $$$.

With the CTS, you get 5-series room for 3-series pricing. An extra 10-15 grand buys a lot of attention to detail. When Caddy pushes the CTS into the next pricing level to make room for the upcoming 3-series sized model, there will be no room for excuses.

I'm waiting for the V-series coming next fall. 600+ HP in that lil' box is gonna be a burner!

SEMA is a totally different type of show. It's for the trade only and not open to general admission. I was there this year as both an exhibitor and a buyer and wrote about it here.

SEMA is fun though, that's for sure!

Okie: Incredible Daughters 1 and 3 and I enjoyed the show, but then we only have the ultra-lame OC show to compare it to. I.D. 1 fawned over the BMW 135 and swooned over the old BMW roadster. I thought the CTS disappointed hugely in the small details -- bare hard plastic under the window buttons on the door instead of wood or something pleasant, and a hard edge to the inside door handles, so you'd have an uncomfortable nerve ending reaction every time you open the door forever.

But the Maserati Grand Tourismo! Oh, my heart!

From the photos, it looks like LA had some pretty good cars there. you can't compare it to the SEMA show though. I've been looking pictures from that on the SEMA Insider website and nothing can really match up to the autos there. There were a few videos on the site interviewing top designers, detailers, and celebrities-- LA just doesn't have that kind of pull.
