With the 10th anniversaries of the deaths of both Princess Diana and Mother Teresa so close, I expected the media to remember the former and forego the latter. Of course the temptation to show Mother Teresa as having a “crisis of faith” was just too good to pass up, I suppose. But on the other side I wonder would Newsweek have featured an in depth “The Secret Life of Princess Diana” revealing her to be a vacuous blonde or demonstrating any hint that she was perhaps not as innocent regarding her rift with the royal family as originally assumed? (I’m not saying that she was vacuous or that she wasn’t innocent, but could you see the MSM questioning her public persona?) Secular – or celebrity – sainthood is respected more than is religious sainthood.
