No More Tag, You’re It? — That’ll Teach The Little Dears!

I’ve cataloged this one in Lefty Nutters, Fever Swamp Madness and most importantly, A Future For Mankind? as creeping stupidity like this is indicative of a mindset that will doom our society to mediocrity and downfall. Hey AP, it ain’t just a game o’ tag!

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) – An elementary school has banned tag on its playground after some children complained they were harassed or chased against their will.

“It causes a lot of conflict on the playground,” said Cindy Fesgen, assistant principal of the Discovery Canyon Campus school.

In 2005, two elementary schools in the nearby Falcon School District did away with tag and similar games in favor of alternatives with less physical contact. School officials said the move encouraged more students to play games and helped reduce playground squabbles.

Sounds to me like a school system that just wants to make managing the students a lot easier and avoid nuisance lawsuits. Can’t have our precious children learning anything about conflict and more importantly, conflict resolution on the playground now can we? Nah — that would entice them to think, reason, maybe even resort to a bit o’ physical resistance now and then. That we certainly can’t tolerate on today’s progressive playgrounds.

Sheesh!

The big picture lesson here is that children will no longer be taught to resolve their own conflicts but rather depend on authority (government) to do it for them

I have 4 grandchildren in Colorado Springs that are or soon will be of school age. The liberals running our schools definitely are sending the wrong messages to our children. I think along with mothers that have to work outside the home for a family to prosper,(or even to just get by) the school systems are largely responsible for the decay of society in the past 40 years. I take the schools to task every chance I get on a variety of different issues. Anyone remember a Christmas play with anti-Chistian issues in Mustang, Oklahoma that made national news a few years ago? I was involved.
