This was my first week as a member of the Watcher’s Council and boy was there a lot of great blogging to read, and a short time to get that accomplished. The winning Council entry was 3 Spies and Six Days by Soccer Dad which highlights three extraordinary Mossad spies whose contributions greatly affected the outcome of the 6-Day War. The non-Council winner was Four Modest Proposals for Getting Out of Iraq by Dan Simmons, which is an in-depth analysis of the Iraq War situation past, present and as the title suggests, 4 possible futures. I had rated this post as my secondary choice for this category, but it could have easily been my first.

For my primary Council winner I chose The Six Day War In Real Time by Bookworm Room, which came in second in Council results. This post presented excerpts and analysis of Life Magazines’ special edition on the 6-Day War that was rushed into print soon after the war was over. I know that we had both Life and Look coming to the house during that time, but I can’t remember seeing this issue. One of the most telling aspects is the amount of support that the MSM gave Israel, in stark contrast to the hostile atmosphere we see today.

For second place in the Council offerings I picked Loyalty and Love: D-Day, 63 Years Later… by Joshuapundit, that includes a Regan speech that really must be read.

I found myself being intrigued learning more about the Arab/Israeli conflict on its 40th Anniversary, so I chose Six Day War — Israeli Perspective at History News Network for my non-Council winner.

I got one secondary vote for my global-warming-denial rant, LA Times Jumps the Shark on Global Warming, and my choice for non-Council consideration, Bill Whittle’s You Are Not Alone (Part 1) must have received two second place votes, but didn’t get one from me.

I’ll get better at this, I promise. And, from what I read, I need to get myself in gear and write, write, write! See all of the other posts, links and vote tallies here.
