. . . I was working at the computer when the wife of a friend called and told me to “Turn on the TV — They’ve blown up the Federal building in Oklahoma City!”

I did, and someone had. According to Wikipedia:

The attack claimed 168 lives and left over 800 injured. Until Sept. 11, 2001, it was the deadliest act of terrorism on U.S. soil.

We all lived through the most recent nightmare of 9/11 — who but the deranged, evil Islamofascists could have even conceived of a terror larger than that of 4/19/’95? One of the regular readers of this blog emailed me this week and commented upon the upcoming anniversary of this terrible event. He said that none of the victims’ families of the Murrah building bombing received any direct Federal financial aid, which was extended to all of the 9/11 families, and Murrah was a Federal facility. Again. from Wikipedia:

There was no major federal financial assistance provided to the survivors of the Oklahoma City bombing, However, the Murrah Fund was established and collected over $300,000 from federal grants. Additionally, individuals around the country donated $15 million to aid the disaster relief and to compensate the victims.[25] Later, a committee chaired by Daniel J Kurtenbach of Goodwill Industries provided financial assistance to the survivors.

So, government grants provided $300K and private charities donated over $15 million! Typical, and something that you don’t hear at all coming out of the mouths of the Democrats.

And then there’s this. 168 dead sure isn’t 3,000 plus — but the pain and suffering of the families involved wasn’t any less. But hey, there was someone in the oval office at the time that could readily articulate how he could “feel their pain”. Someone should ask them if that was enough.

At least Timothy McVeigh is roasting in Hell . . . they got that one right!
