Another Okie’s Take On The Global Warming Hysteria
Regular ‘Okie’ reader/commenter Glenn Speck, who actually lives in Oklahoma, last week sent me a letter-to-the-editor that he had sent to The Daily Oklahoman soon after the Inconvenient Truther Al (My house is way bigger than yours, unless you’re John Edwards of course) Gore’s appearance at OU, (that’s Oklahoma University to the OK-challenged or non-college-football fan.) The Oklahoman printed it in today’s edition and posted it on their site.
What hypocrisy!
Al Gore in his recent University of Oklahoma speech didn’t mention that his home uses 20 times the energy of an average home or that he buys “carbon credits” from a company he owns. He didn’t mention the fuel used in private planes so he can give alarmist global warming speeches. What hypocrisy! While it’s understandable that OU would welcome a speech by a former vice president, I’m disappointed that Gore is allowed to speak about climate science anywhere since he possesses no scientific credentials. The truth about “An Inconvenient Truth” and Gore’s agenda is that there is no irrefutable evidence that anthropogenic global warming even exists.
Global warming proponents keep waving carbon dioxide charts at us, but they are nearly meaningless when they keep crying about a minuscule increase in atmospheric carbon from 0.035 to 0.045 percent. The huge temperature increase they rant about is a trivial 0.6 degrees Fahrenheit in the past 100 years. No scientific consensus exists on global warming, as they would have you believe.
Global warming is little more than a Ponzi scheme for those seeking monetary gain through environmental alarmism. Global warming needs to be a scientific issue, not a political one. Gore needs to go re-invent the Internet.

After comparing the letter that Glenn sent to the DO with the “edited” (for space considerations I’m sure) one that was printed they didn’t bother to leave in the following:
In the March 11 Sunday Oklahoman, Susie Shields asks us to “Don’t shoot the climate crisis messenger,” meaning Al Gore and his recent speech at the University of Oklahoma. (…)Letter writer Ms. Shields urges us to forgive this hypocrisy by Gore because after all Al buys his power from an alternate source and is installing solar panels and modified lighting at his home. I suppose Mr. Gore buys alternate jet fuel for the private jet that hauls him around to give his global warming alarmist speeches across America?
There is a very large group of global warming skeptics amongst scientists worldwide. Fortunately, there is a documentary coming out soon that counters the bad science, conjecture, and errors in Gore’s documentary. It is titled “The Great Global Warming Swindle”. Interesting title, huh?
They totally ignore the most prevalent “greenhouse”: gas of all: water vapor. Should we quit drinking water to reduce global warming? Others say everyone becoming vegetarian will reduce global warming. More feel-good Hollywood type ridiculous nonsense. What they really don’t want you to know is that in the past 4-5 years, average world temperatures have decreased, and that trend will likely continue. We don’t know enough about the climate system of the Earth to even know whether it will rain next week, but some people will have you believe they know what temperatures will be 100 years from now.
(I am a senior environmental chemist at a local private laboratory, We have no ties to global warming pro or con)
I should give Glenn “ex-pat-Okie” status so that he can claim bein’ on-the-lam and write here. Way to go, Glenn, and it means even more that you are a scientist. Ol’ Al & Global Warming AlarmCo can BS the general public to no end, but not real scientists — that is, unless they are tied to the green-GW-unbilical or suckin’ at the GW-funding-teat.
