About That Global Warming Scientific Consensus?

Ahem . . . not just a few would beg to disagree. The Great Global Warming Swindle is a documentary that does just that, exposing big Al Gore’s little “Inconvenient Untruth” for what it really is. From the UK’s Channel 4 which will show it this coming Thursday.

The film features an impressive roll-call of experts, including nine professors – experts in climatology, oceanography, meteorology, environmental science, biogeography and paleoclimatology – from such reputable institutions as MIT, NASA, the International Arctic Research Centre, the Institut Pasteur, the Danish National Space Center and the Universities of London, Ottawa, Jerusalem, Winnipeg, Alabama and Virginia.

The film hears from scientists who dispute the link between carbon dioxide levels and global temperatures.

Now, there’s the crux of it, no? Every paranoid frightmare that the GW hysterics are so terrified about begins with their new found religion that man-made CO2 is gonna kill us all.

‘The ice core record goes to the very heart of the problem we have,’ says Tim Ball, Climatologist and Prof Emeritus of Geography at the University of Winnipeg in the documentary. ‘They said if CO2 increases in the atmosphere, as a greenhouse gas, then the temperature will go up’.

In fact, the experts in the film argue that increased CO2 levels are actually a result of temperature rises, not their cause, and that this alternate view is rarely heard. ‘So the fundamental assumption, the most fundamental assumption of the whole theory of climate change due to humans, is shown to be wrong.’

‘I’ve often heard it said that there is a consensus of thousands of scientists on the global warming issue, that humans are causing a catastrophic change to the climate system,’ says John Christy, Professor and Director of the Earth System Science Center, NSSTC University of Alabama. ‘Well I am one scientist, and there are many, that simply think that is not true.’

The Daily Mail gives more info about the film:

Ice core samples from Antarctica have been used as proof of how warming over the centuries has been accompanied by raised CO2 levels.

But Professor Ian Clark, an expert in palaeoclimatology from the University of Ottawa, claims that warmer periods of the Earth’s history came around 800 years before rises in carbon dioxide levels.

The programme also highlights how, after the Second World War, there was a huge surge in carbon dioxide emissions, yet global temperatures fell for four decades after 1940.

And, about that claim by the GWHs, that most if not all of the “real” scientists on the planet are in agreement with Al’s little “Inconvenient Truth”? Well, here’s one scientist that tells how the GWers promote that little fiction.

The UN report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change was published in February. At the time it was promoted as being backed by more than 2,000 of the world’s leading scientists.

But Professor Paul Reiter, of the Pasteur Institute in Paris, said it was a “sham” given that this list included the names of scientists who disagreed with its findings.

Professor Reiter, an expert in malaria, said his name was removed from an assessment only when he threatened legal action against the panel.

“That is how they make it seem that all the top scientists are agreed,” he said. “It’s not true.”

No wonder that ol’ Al wants the media to stop airing any anti-Global Warming opinions — those opinions are really stacking up! But to really give it to ol’ Al, there’s Mark Steyn’s column from yesterday.

So in the Reverend Al’s case it doesn’t matter that he’s lit up like Times Square on V-E Day. Because he’s paid for his extravagant emissions. He has a carbon-offset trader in an environmentally friendly carbon-credits office suite who buys “carbon offsets” for Al from, say, a terrorist mastermind in a cave in the Pakistani tribal lands who’s dramatically reduced his energy usage mainly because every time he powers up his cell phone or laptop a light goes on in Washington and an unmanned drone starts heading his way. So, aside from a basic cable subscription to cheer himself up watching U.S. senators talking about “exit strategies” on CNN 24/7, the terrorist mastermind doesn’t deplete a lot of resources. Which means Tipper can watch Al give a speech on a widescreen plasma TV, where Al looks almost as wide as in life, and she doesn’t have to feel guilty because it all comes out . . . carbon-neutral!
(…)
So Al can buy his carbon offsets from himself. Better yet, he can buy them with the money he gets from his long-time relationship with Occidental Petroleum. See how easy it is to be carbon-neutral? All you have do is own a gazillion stocks in Big Oil, start an eco-stockbroking firm to make eco-friendly investments, use a small portion of your oil company’s profits to buy some tax-deductible carbon offsets from your own investment firm, and you too can save the planet while making money and leaving a carbon footprint roughly the size of Godzilla’s at the start of the movie when they’re all standing around in the little toe wondering what the strange depression in the landscape is.

Best to just go and read it all. Heh! (db)

Thank goodness the truth as I see it about global warming is finally coming out. This documentary needs to be shown in the U.S.A. ASAP.

Many of us scientists have disagreed with the global warming alarmists for years, but have been censured by the majority of our peers and either ignored or made to look stupid by the mass media. Like many others, I have taken every opportunity to express my opinion on global warming to anyone who will listen.

Al Gore knows that his free lunch is over and he will have to find a new Ponzai scheme now that his carbon offset investment scam story is out.

I am a man of few words. Global warming is bullshit.
