Peace? No peace — Just Die Already!

Maybe this will be simple enough that even a “Progressive” can understand what we are dealing with in the Global War On Terror . . .

“What do we want you to do?” — “Die!”

The following is an exchange between the President of the United States and a captured alien from the Dean Devlin/Roland Emmerich film Independence Day.

PRESIDENT: Why did you people come here?

OKUN/ALIEN: Air… water… your “sun.”

PRESIDENT: Where do your people come from? Where is your home?

OKUN/ALIEN: Here… now.

PRESIDENT: And before here?

OKUN/ALIEN: Many worlds…

PRESIDENT: Can we negotiate a truce? Is there room for co-existance? Can there be peace between us?

OKUN/ALIEN: Peace? No peace.

PRESIDENT: What do you want us to do?

OKUN/ALIEN: DIE!

Only a work of fiction, right? . . .

However, consider simply changing “OKUN/ALIEN:” to “Iran/Hezbollah” and “PRESIDENT:” to “Israel/U.S.”

ISRAEL/U.S.: Can we negotiate a truce? Is there room for co-existance? Can there be peace between us?

IRAN/HEZBOLLAH: Peace? No peace.

ISRAEL/U.S.: What do you want us to do?

IRAN/HEZBOLLAH: DIE!

Now it’s not fiction at all — it’s cold-hard reality. (db)
