The prime mover in Islamic terrorism is not primarily cultural, or political, but in my opinion 100% religious. Let’s cut through all the BS and polite PC rationalizations. It is Religion and the Crusades. When the #2 man at Al-Qaeda, advocates Islamic control from “Spain to the Middle East” he is referring to a world-wide Caliphate reminisced of the “good old days.” Remember the good old days? When Islamic hordes conquered and “converted” the infidels (i.e. Christians, Jews, Zoroastrians, the proverbial pagans, etc.) in previous non-Muslim areas? Remember this: Visigothic Spain prior to the Muslim invasion was Christian and relatively peaceful. Why did the Muslim Berbers invade Spain? To bring Islamic culture to Granada and Seville? Gimme a break! They had ample lands in North Africa. But what they needed and wanted was plunder plain and simple. The Crusades are often tossed in the face of the west as a series of egregious acts of aggression against the peaceful Muslims. Rubbish!! The Crusades were originally a strategic action to recapture the Holy Lands from the Muslims who had taken it from the Byzantines, Maronites and others. It was defensive reaction to a military incursion by the Muslims. The Christian West was responding to four centuries of conquests in which Muslims had already captured two-thirds of the old Christian world. At some point, my friends, Christianity as a faith and a culture had to defend itself or be consumed by Islam. The Crusades were that strategic defensive action. Furthermore, what gives the Muslims the right to capture Jerusalem, other than it is the site of Muhammed's allegorical “leap to the heaven” and to control the lucrative trade routes. This single act along with the Islamic Seljuk Turks ambition for Anatolia and Constantinople and, the Eastern Church’s request for assistance from the west, precipitated the first Crusade. It’s all about religion. And in the final analysis it’s very clear: Do you believe that Jesus Christ IS God or not? The metaphysical and ontological discussions can end with your honest answer... the political and military ramifications only start with your honest answer.
