Will Israel Be Attacked By Iran On Aug. 22nd?
[Update: Be sure and read the comments -- Here's an excerpt]
The prime mover in Islamic terrorism is not primarily cultural, or political, but in my opinion 100% religious. Let’s cut through all the BS and polite PC rationalizations. It is Religion and the Crusades. When the #2 man at Al-Qaeda, advocates Islamic control from “Spain to the Middle East” he is referring to a world-wide Caliphate reminisced of the “good old days.”

And in the final analysis it’s very clear: Do you believe that Jesus Christ IS God or not? The metaphysical and ontological discussions can end with your honest answer… the political and military ramifications only start with your honest answer.
“Ahmadinejad is planning an illumination of the night sky over Jerusalem to rival the one that greeted the Prophet of Islam[.]“ — Robert Spencer (FrontPage Magazine)
Not a very Christian way to celebrate the day of my mother’s birth!
However, August 22nd is also the Muslim “Night of the Sira’a and Miira’aj”, which was the night that Mohammed, or at least his spirit, supposedly ascended to Heaven from a mosque in Jerusalem, visited Hell, and then returned to Mecca. Quite a night out with the boys wouldn’t you say? And then you might also say, “So? What’s it to me?”
Well, August 22nd is the date that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has given for his response to the world regarding the suspension of Iran’s nuclear weapons program and what he is promising sure doesn’t sound kosher! Check this out from Robert Spencer at FrontPage Magazine online.
Did Muhammad really go anywhere? According to his favorite wife, Aisha, he did not: “The apostle’s body remained where it was but God removed his spirit by night.” Nevertheless, the Night Journey has become firmly embedded in the Islamic consciousness, such that Muslims today celebrate it as one of the central events of Muhammad’s life. And now, according to Ghadry, Ahmadinejad is planning an illumination of the night sky over Jerusalem to rival the one that greeted the Prophet of Islam on his journey. What the Iranian President, he says, is “promising the world by August 22 is the light in the sky over the Aqsa Mosque that took place the night before. That is his answer to the package of incentives the international community offered Iran on June 6.”
Certainly a nuclear attack on Jerusalem or even an all-out conventional assault against Israel by Iran would be consistent with Ahmadinejad’s oft-repeated denials of Israel’s right to exist and recent predictions that its demise was at hand. He hinted at the use of nuclear weapons in his phrasing when he said that Israel “pushed the button of its own destruction” by finally retaliating against Hizballah’s relentless rocket barrage from south Lebanon.
This guy might just be crazier than a shithouse rat, but when you remember that Iranian agents were present at the recent North Korean missile launches, and that it is thought that No. Korea has several finished nukes, and that Iran has lots of money and No. Korea needs hard currency in the worst way — well let’s just say all that doesn’t make me sleep very peacefully, that’s for sure.
August 22, 2006. Keep that day in mind. Sure hope that the only thing going on is my remembering of one grand ol’ gal! (db)

It is Religion and the Crusades. When the #2 man at Al-Qaeda, advocates Islamic control from “Spain to the Middle East” he is referring to a world-wide Caliphate reminisced of the “good old days.” Remember the good old days? When Islamic hordes conquered and “converted” the infidels (i.e. Christians, Jews, Zoroastrians, the proverbial pagans, etc.) in previous non-Muslim areas? Remember this: Visigothic Spain prior to the Muslim invasion was Christian and relatively peaceful. Why did the Muslim Berbers invade Spain? To bring Islamic culture to Granada and Seville? Gimme a break! They had ample lands in North Africa. But what they needed and wanted was plunder plain and simple. The Crusades are often tossed in the face of the west as a series of egregious acts of aggression against the peaceful Muslims. Rubbish!! The Crusades were originally a strategic action to recapture the Holy Lands from the Muslims who had taken it from the Byzantines, Maronites and others. It was defensive reaction to a military incursion by the Muslims. The Christian West was responding to four centuries of conquests in which Muslims had already captured two-thirds of the old Christian world. At some point, my friends, Christianity as a faith and a culture had to defend itself or be consumed by Islam. The Crusades were that strategic defensive action. Furthermore, what gives the Muslims the right to capture Jerusalem, other than it is the site of Muhammed’s allegorical “leap to the heaven” and to control the lucrative trade routes. This single act along with the Islamic Seljuk Turks ambition for Anatolia and Constantinople and, the Eastern Church’s request for assistance from the west, precipitated the first Crusade. It’s all about religion. And in the final analysis it’s very clear: Do you believe that Jesus Christ IS God or not? The metaphysical and ontological discussions can end with your honest answer… the political and military ramifications only start with your honest answer.
