If all you’ve heard about Marine Cpl. Joshua Belile’s song Hadji Girl is from the MSM, then you are certain that this Marine is some bloodthirsty Iraqi civilian-killer-worshiping nut-job that needs to be excised from the corp. However, if you actually go and see/listen to Belile’s video, you get a very different picture. If you go to Michelle Malkin’s Hot Air and listen to today’s Vent, you get the video in its entirety as well as some cogent commentary that shows how the MSM, the anti-war Left and CAIR are all using mis-information to shine a very bad light on Belile and in the case of CAIR, further their pro-hard-line Islamist positions. LGF is on it and tracking all the bad info out there.

The way the MSM puts it is like this:

A four-minute video of the performance, posted on the Internet, showed Cpl. Joshua Belile, who returned home from Iraq in March, singing lyrics about encountering an Iraqi woman and her family.

He sings, “I grabbed her little sister and put her in front of me. As the bullets began to fly, the blood sprayed from between her eyes, and then I laughed maniacally.” In the background, laughing, clapping and cheers can be heard.

Wow — that sounds pretty bad, now doesn’t it? But go and listen to the whole performance and you will see that the Marine in the song is seduced by a gorgeous Iraqi girl and taken to her home, where he finds himself surrounded by weapons-wielding insurgents intent on giving him a fatal dose of extreme prejudice. Sure, there’s laughing in the background — I imagine that some of those men had been there, done that, as far as having had encounters with what looked like civilians but turned out to be insurgent combatants — hey, they could relate, OK?

In bad taste? Probably. But-I-Don’t-CAIR. Not nearly as bad as even the most tame Gangster Rap that plays on our commercial airways.
