Hedgehog Keeps It Real About John Kerry

Lowell Brown’s comments about John Kerry’s Faneuil Hall speech, given last weekend, on the appropriateness of speaking out against the Iraq War. Lowell is dead on with his observations.

Let me say that again: In the view of Kerry and most liberals, American soldiers in Iraq are risking and losing their lives for nothing worthwhile. Liberals with whom I have discussed this point almost always become irate when I make that statement, I think because it is at once so painfully obvious and so hard for them to admit. I am questioning their patriotism, they say.

No, I’m not. I’m simply calling on them to have the courage of their convictions.(…)

You can’t have it both ways. Yes, you can be a patriot and a dove, but you can’t “oppose the war and support the troops.” The two positions are inherently inconsistent.

Go to the post for the full explanation. As usual, Lowell makes perfect sense, if your mind is at all open to reason. (db)
