Missing Link Fish, or Just Another Up-Yours to Christians?
I’m a sucker for science. Love it — always have. Should have been a scientist, or a doc. Definitely have the hands, and the mind — guess I thought that degree in Ceramics was gonna take me places, like a teaching position in a University. Whew! Dodged an intellectual bullet there. But, back to science. There was this little story going around the Net yesterday that finally showed up in the LA Times this AM.
One Small Step for Fish …
Scientists have found fossils of what they say is evolution’s missing link, the ancestor of land creatures.
Damn, you mean that the missing link was still missing? All those stories of fish walking on land weren’t backed up by fossil evidence yet? There are walking fish today, and they are a real mess.
But, before I could get up a good head of steam over this, I saw that Doug TenNapel had torn it up plenty good and that compared to his post, there would be no justice from me.
…wait a minute, you’re telling me that scientists have been preaching Godless evolution all this time without a legit fish-to-tetrapod missing link?! Well what were you using all this time on the fossil tree, science fiction? Luckily, no gap is so great between species that can make some scientists lose their faith in a dogmatic fundamentalist allegience to Materialist Darwinism.
(…)
1. You’re admitting that major transitions in evolution were previously unconfirmed-but-taught-in-public-schools.
2. When you say “religious creationists” don’t you mean, “psycho-fundamentalist, snake-handling-creationists”? Or are you calling those of us who support Intelligent Design some kind of religious creationists?
3. I wasn’t even aware that religious creationists were in the race so it seems weird that you’re wasting time rebutting them. If ID isn’t science, why go so far out of your way to throw down a challenge? I mean, you’re not announcing a challenge to flat-Earthers, but that’s because you know flat-Earthers aren’t in the race. You just accidentally strengthened our position. You should go back to ignoring ID like you did ten years ago.
I happen to think that evolution in some fashion makes a lot of sense, and illustrates the wondrous intellect of the Creator in a manner that we can at least partially attempt to understand. Just a little gift from Him to us. But the secular humanists in our midst try to see it in a light that would disprove the existence of a Supreme Being — they see all this wondrous development as purely random acts of natural selection. Now, there’s some science fiction for ya! But, I’ll bloviate on this subject at some future time — probably p’ss off everyone I know — so be it.
See Doug. See Doug thrash the secular idiots with logic, and interesting turns-of-phrase. Just go there — you’ll be glad you did. (db)
