Al Queda couldn’t be given a better opportunity to fan the flames of radical Islamic hatred than what has been going on in the European press this last week. But freedom-of-speech issues and calls for moderation aside, as Lowell Brown says,

Glenn Reynolds (InstaPundit) has this right: “This really is a case of civilization against the barbarians.”

This erupted into chaos and violence in Syria last night where both the Danish and Norwegian embassy buildings were set ablaze.

DAMASCUS, Syria (AP) – Rage against caricatures of Islam’s revered prophet poured out across the Muslim world Saturday, with aggrieved believers calling for executions, storming European buildings and setting European flags afire.

Thousands of outraged Syrian demonstrators stormed the Danish and Norwegian embassies in Damascus, setting fire to both buildings.
