Disposable Cell Phones — A Terrorist’s Best Buddy
The Anchoress turned me onto this one: That there exists circumstantial proof that the New York Times revelation of the NSA’s monitoring of Al Queda communications to those inside the US has led to several suspicious buys of untraceable disposable cell phones. Thanks guys, we really needed that! After that little tidbit, she goes on to say:
Maybe some Americans forget what 9/11 was like. It’s easy to do; we don’t like to dwell on what is sad and tragic, and we don’t like to feel insecure. And perhaps because our president and his team HAVE managed to keep us safe, HAVE managed to prevent another attack on our soil, using these (what the left would call) “impeachable” tactics, perhaps we are feeling a little too safe, a little over-confident. That must be true for some, particularly many Democrats, who would like to “kill the Patriot act,” as Sen. Harry Reid crowed, or leak every covert measure we are taking, (hello, New York Times, hello James Risen) or who seem to wish to tie the hands of the government at every turn in the War on Terror.
Well, she hasn’t forgotten the horrors of 9/11, and neither have I. Can’t wait to hear the pissing and moaning on the Left over those in the Hemet, CA Target and Midland, TX Wal-Mart stores that were suspicious of folks of Middle Eastern dissent trying to buy 150 and 60 of these untraceable phones. I’m sure they had a legitimate reason — right. That could have been 210 bombs set off somewhere here in the good ol’ USA!
Mark Tapscott thinks that the Joel Hinrich suicide by explosives just outside the OU stadium in Norman, OK might have been a trial run. Maybe his Middle Eastern roommate had one of these types of phones, and gave ol’ Joel his last call. Maybe.
And maybe we can’t sit idly by and let those on the Left determine what our government can, and can’t do, to keep us safe from another 9/11, or greater, attack. Yeah, maybe . . .
Whoever leaked the NSA program to the NY Times needs to do serious prison time, and the NY Times needs to be somehow held to account for publishing this story. That’s what this ol’ Okie thinks! (db)
