Grassfires In The Heartland

One of the regular readers of this blog is from Mustang, OK. Hope he and his family have not been affected by the raging grassfires:

Firefighters in Ponca City, Yukon, south Oklahoma City and Mustang are all battling grassfires. The Mustang grassfire is reported to have damaged several homes since it started Tuesday afternoon. The cause is not yet known.

A fire official in Oklahoma City said they are dealing with more than 10 grassfires around the metro area. He said three minor injuries have been reported.

Dry weather across the state have made conditions excellent for wildfires, with much of the state in a severe drought.

Stay safe Glenn! (db)

Thanks for thinking of us here in the promised land. The nearest blaze was at State Hwy 152 and Morgan Road, about four miles from my humble abode. The Mustang Fire Station is a quarter mile from us, and I have a relative there who is a Fire Captain. I feel pretty secure. I know you know this, but I wanted to tell your many other readers that we have motorized fire engines here in Oklahoma now. We were afraid P.E.T.A. might catch us with the horses…. Have a good evening.
