Saddam’s Trial — Three Ring Circus Already?
Crazy stuff, this trial of mass-murderer Saddam Hussein. What’s even crazier is the coverage of it by the MSM. You think maybe they are on his side a little bit, maybe a lot? [h/t: Brent Baker's News Busters blog] Once again, center-right blogs come to the rescue!
Captain Ed Morrisey at Captain’s Quarters blog comments on the New York Times editorial in which their complaints about how the prosecution of Hussein is constructed is just another in a long line of Saddam sympathies.
No, what we have is a bitter set of editorialists who have watched as the Iraqi people they continually underestimate put their new democracy together while the Gray Lady continually carps about their priorities from the sidelines. The Paper of Record continues to marginalize itself, now issuing whining complaints about the order of charges against a mass murderer.
Doug TenNapel dissects this first day of trial and sees the light of accomplishment embodied by the imprisionment of Hussein:
Even if Bush went to war for oil, Halliburten and the Area 51 flying saucers, one must admit that a great thing was accomplished by removing Saddam. In case you’re late to the game because you were listening to your liberal friends…the Iraqi’s LOVE us and love to be liberated from Saddam.
Better still, is that all of Iraq’s corrupt neighbors need to pay attention to this trial. It’s the old “you could be next” that may breathe a little civility into their usual inhumane leadership:
And, [h/t: Michelle Malkin] Matt at Blogs for Bush makes this wry observation:
Think about it, there are liberals in this country who believe that Saddam Hussein was a legitimately elected dictator of Iraq, but don’t believe George W. Bush is the legitimately elected President of the United States.
I’ll chip in with this — No matter if one wants to call George Bush “President elect” or President select”, Saddam knows that “President (whatever) Bush not only killed his sons but also kicked his ass! Now it’s the Iraqi people’s turn.
Guess we could send them a container of steel-toed pointy-boots and let them all get after it! Heh! (db)
