More SCOTUS Stuff Plus Some Odds & Ends
I usually like Ann Coulter, but her carping and whining over the Harriet Miers’ nomination is turning even me off. Check out this excerpt from her latest column on Townhall.com.
Ah, but perhaps you were unaware of Miers’ many other accomplishments. Apparently she was THE FIRST WOMAN in Dallas to have a swimming pool in her back yard! And she was THE FIRST WOMAN with a safety deposit box at the Dallas National Bank! And she was THE FIRST WOMAN to wear pants at her law firm! It’s simply amazing! And did you know she did all this while being a woman?
Pretty snarky — and considering the latest Hugh Hewitt post, pretty lame. Hugh writes:
Miers’ participation in this process [the White House's judicial selection committee] for three years presents opponents of her nomination with more than just a question of how the president’s nominees reflect on Miers’ –and the committee’s judgment. More importantly, her participation in the process described discredits any idea that her core philosophy is unknown to the president or other senior aides. It defies common sense to imagine three years of such meetings leaving other senior staff and the president in the dark about her commitment to originalism.
Damn, Ann. She probably wore pants to some of those meetings, too. Enough of that for a minute, on to some silly and just plain weird stuff found on Drudge.

Madonna’s parenting secrets — What the . . . ?
Madonna is a worldwide pop icon, once notorious for her desire to shock.
But as she nears 50, she has become a puritanical parent who is a disciplinarian with her children, nine-year-old Lola and Rocco, four.
Oh boy . . . Whatever! (db)
