China Commissions New Warships

Kinda makes you wonder how much borrowed technology are in these things!
China’s navy has commissioned the first in a new class of domestically designed and built warships, official media reported Tuesday.

Along with superior electronics, anti-submarine capabilities and air defenses, the ships boast sloped, covered sides and a special exterior paint intended to make it more difficult to spot by radar, according to the reports.The ships are designed to operate far out at sea, part of the People’s Liberation Army’s development of a “blue water” navy intended to assert Chinese claims to Taiwan and other territories and protect sea lanes transporting vital natural resources. I’ve previously documented new Aegis-type destroyers that the Chinese military put into service last July that contain Aegis battle management systems that they stole from the U.S. via a front company that was set up to be a subcontractor for the main system manufacturer. Hopefully they haven’t gotten hold of technologies like this, this or this! Wild illustration of our new stealth class of naval destroyer here. Looks like we’re really gonna need these after all! Instead of continuing to diminish the number of ships in our navy, we need to build more — lots more!
China is on the move . . . we can’t afford to stay asleep forever on this one. (db)
