Who Blocked the Aid to New Orleans?

Hugh Hewitt had Major Garrett on his show again today:

The Fox News Channel’s Major Garrett made another appearance on the program this evening, following up on his blockbuster story yesterday. Among other things, Garrett got confirmation from the head of the Red cross –on camera– of the Louisiana State Department of Homeland Security’s blocking of the delivery of relief supplies to the Superdome and the Convention Center. [Emph. mine]

If that isn’t pathetic enough, Garrett also received confirmation from senior officials at the Salvation Army that their efforts to get aid into New Orleans were also blocked. Make special note that this is the state of Louisiana blocking both the Red Cross and the Salvation Army from delivering food, water, medical and sanitary supplies from getting to all those folks that had made their way into the shelters of last resort, due to the city not executing its prepared disaster plan – Why? Why? Why??? Was it because Governor Blanco was punishing Mayor Nagin for his supporting the Republican candidate for Governor in last fall’s runoff? Verrrry Interesting! Louisiana politics has been corrupt for a long time, but it’s still hard to comprehend an intra-state grudge match that results in the destruction of a major U.S. city — but, who knows . . .

Go read the whole thing, and don’t miss following the link at the bottom Hugh’s post to a very revealing and enlightening set of pics. (db)
