SCOTUS — Rehnquist May Announce Retirement This Week
While G.W. is over in Scotland and the world seems to be falling apart in London, there is now speculation that Supreme Court Chief Justice William Rehnquist will be announcing his retirement before the week is out. [ht: Drudge]
In related news, potential Court candidate Attorney General Alberto Gonzales is insisting that he is NOT a candidate for the court.
With two nominations, as well as placing a new “Chief Justice”, Bush candidates will have to go through three Senate confirmations. Looks like a hot & busy Summer and early Fall in ol’ DC! (db)
