None So Blind, as Liberals, Who Will Not See
I’ve been struggling with trying to start this all day. Being hyper-interested in the War-in-Iraq and the politics that continue to swirl around anything and everything having to do with it, one could have written the responses to Bush’s speech prior to the fact. According to Michelle Malkin’s blog, that is exactly what the AP did, releasing their report on the speech over three hours before it was given.
How to compete with that? Well, House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi said this:
“The president’s frequent references to the terrorist attacks of September 11 show the weakness of his arguments. He is willing to exploit the sacred ground of 9/11, knowing that there is no connection between 9/11 and the war in Iraq.”
Intellectual blinders must be standard issue at Democratic HQ, cause even this ol’ Okie can see that the foreign “terrorists” (mistakenly referred to as “insurgents” by the MSM) are made up of Islamic Jihadists that if not fighting us in Iraq, would be planning and executing more and bigger 9/11s in the US and Europe. Their end game is the total annihilation of Western Civilization. Powerline analyzes four huge, obvious connections.
Of course, the Democrats, losing election after election, will probably take solace in the adoration their remarks got on Aljazeera’s web site with this article, Democrats slam Bush speech. Using terms like “adrift” & “quagmire”, the Dems are trying to Vietnamize this current conflict — to force a rift between the American public and their military men and women that are fighting and dying daily to keep the horrors of another 9/11 away from their own main streets, churches, restaurants and homes. Perhaps they would prefer to have Al Zarqawi sawing off the heads of their kids at the local mall, instead of those of hostages in Fallougia? Would they rather that suicide bombers ply their mania in Debuque, rending the flesh of their peers into ground meat, instead of blowing up Iraqis in Baghdad? As Dennis Prager said on his radio program today, do these anti-war Democrats think that if we left Iraq, Al Zarqawi would be content to go off to Oman and sell falafel?
Except for the steaming excesses of the fever swamp, much of the Left is just bored.
Tuesday night, with the networks’ attention once again undivided, his poll numbers down and the war in need of his public relations help, he still wasn’t must-see TV.
Well, it sure wasn’t another re-repeat of Will and Grace. Short attention spans, combined with spineless anatomy and faulty logic — the current Left in a nutshell. As a society we may need to just issue them a DNR, cause keeping them on life support will cost far too much.
So what did I get out of the President’s speech? The main impact for me was the challenge to get involved at a personal level in helping out our military personnel. I’m going to visit America Supports You and get involved. The good “Lady Okie” (actually a native Californian!) is good to go with this, so to celebrate Independence Day, we’ll be doing something to help the troops. And, as always, prayers for “W” and all those brave guys and gals that are showing all of us what it means to “put it all on the line”! (db)
