It’s very simple, really. The main stream media and the liberal elites of the Left all hate our military and the Bush administration more than they love their personal liberties and more than they value their, and our, safety. How else to understand their frenetic and biased reporting of the alleged and confirmed instances of Koran abuse at Guantanamo Bay? Or the statements by Eason Jordan earlier this year accusing our military of targeting journalists? Or the obsession with presenting the abuses that occurred at Abu Graib in as smarmy a way as possible?

Michelle Malkin discusses this in her latest Washington Times article “Guantanamo fog”: (h/t Mark Tapscott)

The mainstream media and international human-rights organizations have relentlessly portrayed the Guantanamo Bay detention facility as a depraved torture chamber operated by sadistic American military officials defiling Islam at every turn. It’s the “gulag of our time,” wails Amnesty International. It’s the “anti-Statue of Liberty,” bemoans New York Times columnist Tom Friedman.
Have there been abuses? Yes. But here is the rest of the story — the story the Islamists and their sympathizers don’t want you to hear. (…)

You won’t read the information presented in the rest of her piece in the NYT, LAT or WaPo, that’s for sure, or if they do print this, it will just be buried way back somewhere on pages 28 – 40. I think that Michelle nails it, hard!

Guantanamo Bay will not be the death of this country. The unseriousness and hypocrisy of the terrorist-abetting left is a far greater threat.
