Senator Frist — Owen and Brown Coming Up Tomorrow, Wednesday.
Senate majority leader Bill Frist has scheduled the first two controversial judicial nominees to come up for debate tomorrow, so here we go. Minority leader Reid had this reaction yesterday, via the NY Times:
“The negotiations are over,” Mr. Reid said as he left the office of the majority leader, Senator Bill Frist of Tennessee. “I have tried to compromise, and they want all or nothing, and I can’t do that. It will have to be decided on the Senate floor, hopefully this week.”
(…)
Dr. Frist now intends to advance two nominees, two state Supreme Court justices, Priscilla R. Owen of Texas and Janice Rogers Brown of California, on Wednesday.
After several Repubs and Dems having made nice at Senator Frist’s house last night over gourmet duck and venison, the gloves will come off tomorrow and we will finally get to see who has a pair and who doesn’t. As usual, keep checking in with Confirm Them for all the latest and greatest, and keep the pressure on the potential slackers! (db)
