As hopefully considered a "dig-in and fix bayonets friend", I have to say you're spot on, Force! As the Anchoress posts today, our liberal friends are the first to rush to the defense of an "artist" making a portrait of Mary out of elephant dung or displaying a crucifix in a jar of human urine -- to them those are not offensive and degrading acts, but beautiful artistic freedom of speech. Like her, I see nothing obscene about flushing a Koran down the toilet, except it might cause an unfortunate blockage of the apartment's sewer system. (db)

I’ve been taking flak for the past few days from my liberal friends about the reported desecration of the Koran by American troops at Gitmo. These are friends of mine. Not “dig-in and fix bayonets friends,” but nevertheless, friends. They were demanding that the US apologize for this egregious action. The US should apologize for what? For a seriously flawed and high school journalism on Newsweek’s part? Apologize to whom? To the Muslims? To the American Left and Liberal media? To the French? Gimme a break!! I didn’t see any “peace loving” Muslims protest the beheading of Americans and other “People of the Book” to quote the Koran. CAIR was conspicuously silent on these atrocities. Americans need to understand and cut through the BS that the Islamic PR machines, liberal left and others spew out. How many times in modern times have Muslims desecrated Christian, Jewish, Hindu, and other religious images? Militant Islam is a clear and present danger to the US and all non-Muslims, and until Muslims extricate themselves from medieval thinking and respect other religious beliefs, they will continue to be a danger. Respect breeds respect.
