One More Time: Filibuster Rules Change in Senate Heating Up

I am getting so frickin’-fracken’ sick of writing about the Republican’s forever promised Senate cloture rules change that would end the filibuster in regards to judicial nominees. I wish they would grow some hair and get on with it already! If they think that any kind/type of compromise with the Democrats will mean anything the first time President Bush nominates a Supreme Court justice, then they are too stupid, or too cowardly, to be in Congress. (What am I saying, California returned Barbara Boxer to office! Who does that make stupid?)

I’m not alone, everyone is getting tired. That is the Dem’s plan: to wear us down, cause us to say “uncle” (Joe?), get us to just throw up our hands and say, “Forget it — We’re out of here!” Too bad for them that we aren’t as weak as they would have us be. Hugh Hewitt this AM;

The root of the problem is that the left has come to rely on the power of judges to enforce its agenda –one which cannot pass through the Congress– and thus needs to protect “their” branch from the restraint that center-right judges would bring. For that reason, the left has consistently attempted to redefine what is the “mainstream” and to demand that any nominee to an appellate bench be within its definition of “mainstream.”
(…)
The fact is that Senate Democrats want to enshrine a new rule –a 60 vote rule– for judicial confirmations.

If they want that rule, they should win some elections on the issue, rather than lose them.

Lowell Brown at Hedgehog Central goes over the entire cloture rule change concept again, point-by-point, and provides links to all of his previous posts about it;

That’s it. The Constitution is not in danger. Ted Kennedy and Chuck Schumer, who are braying that something terrible is happening, are simply behaving like the south end of a horse headed north and should simply shut up. But they won’t, which is why the Constitutional option should be exercised.

Radioblogger posts on the inanities coming out of minority Senate leader Harry Reid’s mouth;

The hapless minority leader from Nevada was on the floor of the United States Senate yesterday, discussing the judges issue, and thoroughly embarrassed himself to all those who bothered to watch him. Here’s some of his diatribe:

I was going to post links to specific articles on Blogotional, Sheep’s Crib and Holy Coast, but Blogger apparently is down and I can’t connect to them and I’m running out of time. Doug TenNapel thinks that some Senatorial strength Exlax might be the sure cure!

I’d like to wish a special Happy Anniversary to the Honorable Priscilla Owen…it’s been four years since she was first nominated. She’s experienced more blockage than Ted Kennedy after an all-you-can-eat-Philly-Cheese-steak competition.

Confirm Them has all the latest and greatest information on the rules change, including this observation;

It could hardly be more obvious that Senator Reid is seeking to choose the people whom President Bush may nominate for the Supreme Court. There is only one word for that: UNCONSTITUTIONAL.

Like my paternal grandma used to say, “Time to S*** or get off the pot! Time’s wastin’ . . . Get it done. (db)

    “I am getting so frickin’-fracken’ sick of…” Very well said. If these spineless Republicans think we will forget this when we decide who to give money to they are very, very wrong. I am looking for real leaders to give my money to!
