Congratulations to Captain Ed at Captain’s Quarters blog! The Canadian judge has lifted the publication ban in Canada and the Captain’s sources have held up well!

Justice John Gomery has lifted the publication ban on Jean Brault’s testimony, allowing the Canadian media to finally report the testimony to the Canadian public. As CTV demonstrates in its data-dump format, the facts as presented by CQ’s source stand up very well against the revelations possible now that the media has been unleashed:

Well done, Ed! The good Captain reflects on this effort and offers thanks to his Canadian readers here.

I haven’t blogged much the last few days as I have been busy with work, and also infatuated with all that is going on in Rome. I’m not a Catholic, don’t understand Catholicism very well, and was raised to believe that there was something wrong with it, but I cannot turn away from the significance of John Paul II and his reign as Pope. Since I don’t feel in the least qualified to give an opinion here, I will link to those that I have found most interesting and challenging.

As usual, in all things Catholic, The Anchoress is the “real deal”! A particularly poignent post of hers is about Karol Wojtyla as a younger man and his kindness to a Polish Jewish girl that was released from a Nazi prison. Follow the links to read it all, truly moving!

And Hugh Hewitt . . . convinced that this time of death and renewal is of utmost importance . . . go there and read “everything”! Certainly don’t miss reading the “extraordinary e-mail from a priest in Rome, Father Peter Mitchell” as he describes his amazing once-in-a-lifetime experiences.

I cannot remember this much national public talk of religion, Jesus and God’s message for mankind in my entire 53 years. I will be following what happens as a new Pope is elected and hope that he will be up to the task of leading that church through the first part of this millennium. (db)
