Waking Up In A Brave New World

Saturday eve., or more precisely, at 2:00 am Sunday morning, it became 3:00 am. I did alright with it yesterday, but today, as Teddi Jack Eddie (a Gary Busey character from a long gone Tulsa late-night show) would say, it has “slapped me up side of the head with a tire tool!” Pot-o’-coffee number two, coming up, that’s for sure.

I’m not sure where I thought I was yesterday, but today I finally have come to the realization that we have awakened in a Brave New World!

The great Holy Church of Rome is in transition, and our own MSM is lobbying for it to make a sea change and embrace the liberal, excuse me, “progressive” ideas of allowing women priests, abortion & contraception, acceptance of homosexual behavior, and basically bending church doctrine to conform with modern secular liberalism, rather than have believers change their ideals and behavior to conform with the doctrines and teachings of the Church. Now that’s the tail wagging the dog, or better yet, a burglar grabbing the dog by the tail and bashing its head up against the wall! (Lots o’ head bashing today, tough you-know-what, I’m just in that kind of mood!)

And then there’s the realization that we now live in a country where you can be killed for being permanently disabled, even if there is someone willing to take full responsibility for your care and expense. We’re not Holland just yet, but if people like George Felos and Dr. Ronald Cranford have their way, we’ll get there sooner than later. I think that a line has been drawn in the sand and then has already been crossed. Time to drag out that tire tool and knock those SOB’s back across to the other side of that line, and then keep knocking them and moving the line until they either give it up or get completely beaten down. (Relax, it’s just a metaphor! At least for now . . .)

And those “Progressives” in the MSM are still lying to us. For example, in his weekly column in the LA Times today, Roland Brownstein uses the following to show a weakness in current GOP positions:

An overwhelming majority of Americans opposed congressional and White House intervention in the Schiavo case;

Unfortunately for Terri Schiavo, that might have been the case a week ago, at least according to the ABC & CBS polls that lied to their recipients, leading them to believe that she was on “life support”, aka a respirator, and had “zero brain function”, both untrue. Over the weekend a Zogby poll finally asks the question that ABC and CBS dared not ask, and we can actually be proud of how our fellow Americans answered: [heads up, The Anchoress]

“If a disabled person is not terminally ill, not in a coma, and not being kept alive on life support, and they have no written directive, should or should they not be denied food and water,” the poll asked.

A whopping 79 percent said the patient should not have food and water taken away while just 9 percent said yes.

Begs the question, “What’s wrong with that 9%?” Sure wouldn’t want to have any of them in my circle of friends, or as a potential “guardian”. Whew, he’p me somebody! But, back to our LA Times buddy, Ronald. You think he didn’t know about the Zogby poll? Maybe he wrote his article earlier last week, before the poll and couldn’t update the info? Maybe those results just didn’t figure into his argument about the dangers to the GOP inherent in the domination of our government at this time in history? Gotta be at least one of ‘em, that’s for sure.

Speaking of the poor, disenfranchised Democrats, which is what the Brownstein column was really all about, it is painfully difficult to get any substantive attention when you don’t have anything to say to regular Americans. The Dems have bent over so far backwards to cater to the Michael Moorites / Howard Deaniacs of the far left, that we don’t even have to try and look up their skirts, everything they’ve got idea wise, or that they don’t, is on full display! They’ve got their panties in a wad and it’s not a pretty sight!

Speaking now of the Republicans, we’ve gotta be careful and not get too cocky. One of the biggest, most important, battles is on the current horizon and could start any day. So, are Senate Republicans going to go nuclear, or wimp out? The future of the judiciary, and therefore the future of our freedom is in the answer to that question. If you feel like I do, that the activist judiciary is out of control and granting to itself powers not bestowed by the Constitution, then urge your Senators to vote to eliminate use of the filibuster to block up-or-down votes on judicial nominees. It’s useless out here in CA, as our Senators are the Democrats (brain-damaged) Barbara Boxer & (sincere, but wrong) Diane Feinstein. If Hell froze over and everyone in the state called them asking them to support the original intent of the framers in the “advise & consent” provision, they would still vote against it!

The LA Times article Senate Primed for Filibuster Showdown uncharacteristically presents both sides of this issue, but supports the Dems, as shown by the inclusion of the following quotes:

“What is driving … the Senate toward conflict is this White House’s efforts to create unnecessary confrontation over judicial nominees,” said Sen. Patrick J. Leahy (D-Vt.), the ranking Democrat on the Judiciary Committee. “The president insisted on renominating troublesome and divisive choices, rather than working with us to find more consensus nominees who would be fair judges.”
(…)
“They are seeking to take away the independence of the judiciary — the crown jewel in our system of government — so that they can advance their own ideological agenda of the day,” said Sen. Edward M. Kennedy (D-Mass.). “That is exactly the kind of tyranny that our ancestors fought to prevent.”

Yeah, Teddy, like you know anything about fighting tyranny, ‘fraid your Bro’ John got all of those genes buddy! And, Sen. Leahy, those “troublesome and divisive choices” are only “troublesome and divisive” because they believe in the sanctity of life. Sounds like some of you Senators never met a fetus that you didn’t want to allow to be killed! (Notice I don’t say “murdered”)

Which brings this rant full circle. The Brave New World we Americans find ourselves living in no longer supports the “sanctity of life”, and is rushing headlong into the toxic embrace of the “Culture of Death”. We have a window of opportunity to change this without having a real, second, bloody civil war, but that window won’t be open forever. Getting some strict constructionist judges would be a great way to start. Now where’s that damn tire tool! (db)
