The Save Terri Schiavo Bill has Passed the House
[Update: 10:30 pm PST -- President Bush has signed the bill!]
“In cases like this one, where there are serious questions and substantial doubts, our society, our laws and our courts should have a presumption in favor of life,” Bush said in a statement after signing the bill.

The measured was backed by 156 Republicans to 5 who voted against it and 71 who did not vote; 47 Democrats voted in favor, 53 against and 102 did not vote. The lone independent in the 435 member house did not vote.
Juan Williams of NPR, who I wrote about earlier today, is still on FoxNews compaining about the national Congress interfering in a “personal issue” between Michael Schiavo and his wife, Terri. I guess he would prefer that she just die!
[Update: 10:01 PST -- The bill willl be going to the President for signing in about 1/2 hour from now.]
The House has voted and passed the bill [208 to 58 House vote in favor -- the Senate voted unamimously in favor of this bill] to allow Terri’s case to move on to a Federal court review. Now it’s all up to a Federal judge. Updates when they happen. (db)
