Pray for Capt. Ed’s First Mate
Captain Ed’s wife, Marcia, is undergoing pancreas transplant surgery even as this is being written. Please take a moment whenever you read this and say a prayer for her.
Ed is blogging the operation with his posts at Captain’s Quarters, Hospiblogging: The Adventure Begins. You can keep up on Marcia’s recovery there along with the good Captain. In his own words after they got the news of a doner pancreas yesterday:
We got great news — the transplant team has found a good pancreas for the First Mate. This pancreas has a five-antigen match for Marcia (six would be an identical-twin match, and two is usually good enough for transplant). The procurement team in South Carolina says the pancreas looks “absolutely normal”, according to the transplant team here, and we were first on the list.
Please add Marcia to your prayers, and include the family of the donor and his/her generous soul as well. I will be hospiblogging for the next several days if this all works out well, and I promise regular updates.
