Michelle highlights the NBC New York station’s article this AM about a man in a wheelchair that was run over and killed by a driver in an SUV. Notice the language they use in this excerpt from the article.

… Police said 41-year-old Juan Jimenez was crossing Broadway near 230th Street at about 5:44 p.m. when a late model black Mitsubishi SUV hit him and pinned him under the vehicle with the wheelchair.

The vehicle then fled the scene, leaving Jimenez in the street. … “

Did you catch it? Yeah, that’s it! Now, isn’t that interesting? The “SUV hit him” followed by “The vehicle then fled the scene”. Weird, I always thought it was the DRIVER that was responsible for the dynamics of a manned moving vehicle. But not the MSM. Oh no, they blame the horrid — LARGE — FUEL WASTING — SUVs! Or as the Gawker, one of New York City’s online pundits describes them while commenting on Malkin’s post,

those gas-guzzling rolling Superfund sites with DVD players … bugbears to whiny liberals everywhere …”

This is a primary tactic of the Left in replacing “freedom of choice” with “acceptance of the leftist agenda”. It was used in the fight against tobacco, in the current campaign against the “fast food industry”, is happening in the “wine and spirits” debates (notice the ever changing terminology in the MADD ads), and now against the SUV. And it has already started against any type of performance automobile or truck.

Why, you ask, should you care? Maybe you don’t own, or don’t like SUVs. Maybe a high-performance car or truck is the last thing you would ever buy. What’s it to you?

Freedom!

The freedom to buy and drive what you want, what you are willing to pay for and pay the fuel bills for, so that you can have the flexibility of owning a large land-yacht if that is what you need, or just want. Why does the MSM hate the SUV? Because in many ways it is the very embodiment of this freedom to choose, and the MSM does not side with the forces of freedom, here or anywhere else in the world!
