The Groningen Protocol

Yesterday, while we were laughing at the inanity of the protesters in Ottawa, Hugh Hewitt was bringing to our attention the Groningen Protocol, the doctor sanctioned killing of terminally ill children in Holland. Hugh picked up the headline on Drudge and featured this story on both his blog and for all three hours of his radio show. The Dutch decision is gut-wrenching or stomach turning, but some of the caller’s to Hugh’s show had stories to tell about their own experiences with very ill children that were both heart breaking and uplifting at the same time.

Today Hugh comments on the lace of coverage in the MSM of this renewed fascination of state-sponsored killing from Europe.

I can find no major newspaper articles on the “Groningen Protocol” this morning. The front page of the Los Angeles Times –above the fold, center two columns– carries this headline: “Salmon and Steelhead May Lose Protection.” As Drudge carried the Netherlands story yesterday, every newsroom in America knows about the protocol.

One more piece of evidence that Europe has lost is collective soul, are we next? . . . db
